Deer killed & 2 more calves orphaned on the hills today by the Quantock Staghounds. A local described the scenes as "deer hell". Yesterday a starving calf was found close to death. Although they can survive without mum's milk and warmth at this age, it will be a struggle through winter

1/2 With @ndhs.bsky.social we attended the Quantocks today to attempt to monitor the hind hunting activity. Unfortunately, we were not able to intervene and believe that 2 hinds were probably chased and shot. We were monitored by some of the more fortunate hinds.
Police were called at Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt today in Bagber after meet host Sophie Tuffin repeatedly smashed her phone into a sab's face claiming she wasn't on a footpath, then knocked her down and trampled her with her horse. With @dorsethuntmonitor.bsky.social

Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt hound control was atrocious today, dogs everywhere. Some were still missing at the end of the day. A couple were reportedly seen crossing the A30 several miles away from where they were boxing up at Stalbridge Park.
For years, hunts have claimed hounds canโt be rehomed. But thatโs a lie. Ex-hunting dogs like Maggie and Negan are thriving in loving homes.
Itโs time to end the cruelty and give these hounds the life they deserve.

A fox suffered a horrific death at the hands of South Dorset Hunt. Its back leg was torn off as it tried to escape the hounds.

Hinds and their calves were terrorised again today by the Quantock Staghounds. But what they were really after was a stag. With a good number of sabs and monitors watching them, they did a poor job of hunting both and were hopefully deterred from taking potshots at fleeing hinds.

Sabs were pushed and ridden at as we covered the fox's scent and called off hounds. We were rewarded when the huntsman gave up and moved on.
*Sound on* How blatant is this - Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt whip (no horse today?) hollering up the hunted fox that had just crossed the road. The huntsman then brought the hounds over to try and pick up the scent on the other side. Sabs ensured hounds failed to find it.
Pearson supported the badger cull that began in North Dorset in 2014. Several setts were targeted on his land. As of 2024 over 210,000 badgers have been culled at a cost of ยฃ58.8 million. bTB compensation paid to farmers costs the taxpayer around ยฃ150 million per annum.

We heard the shot while another deer was being chased, and later saw her body being driven away. Andy Fish came over to a sab gloating and pointing out the blood on his quad, which he then stuck his finger in. Andy is being investigated by police for driving his quad at a stag last month.
