Thanks to all. Lucky, and I know it.

This solid gold horizontal oval signet ring shows signs of wear from frequent use as a seal. It is inscribed down the center with Tutankhamun's prenomen, Neb-kheperu-re (the solar disk of Ra atop a scarab with three bars underneath, and a basket); on either side the king is referred to as "beloved of Amun, lord of eternity." The sun disk in the word for "eternity" appears with the pendant sign for "life," which was a common writing of the sign during Akhenaten's reign. This ring would certainly have belonged to Tutankhamun or used on his behalf to seal important documents. It was purchased in Cairo in 1921, the year before Howard Carter's discovery of the boy king's tomb, and was one of the pieces of evidence of his reign. Egyptian, New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, ca. 1336β1327. Met Museum, New York (22.9.3)
This ring at the #MetMuseum caught my eye, because I know the hieroglyphs for #Tutankhamun's throne name (prenomen) ... and there it was in the center of this cartouche. Neb-kheperu-re, 'Lord of the Forms of Ra'. Purchased in Cairo in 1921, the year before Tut's tomb was discovered. πΊ 1/

βSome people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know βwhyβ I look this way. Iβve traveled a long way and some of the roads werenβt paved.β ~ Will Rogers
Exactly.
"I am like every other person who has ever lived, astonished by time and its misfortune, astonished by the uncertain curse of beauty and then by its decline. Will there be strength, we want to know, to push the little red boat out into the harbor one more time?"
Good Saturday morning #NMRollCall Bed was too nice and warm to vault out of. Not like I vault. Imagine what that would result in. But dancing a bit should be mandatory.
Do not seek comfort. Seek knowledge. Seek growth. Seek honesty.
These are painful. They require us to see ourselves as we are, not as we wish to be. But we cannot become the people we wish to be without facing the work and struggle needed to transform and evolve. Pain is the awareness of life.
Today in 1809, the greatest president of the United States of America was born. Abraham Lincoln. Staggering intellect. Staggering will. Staggering empathy. I am in awe of his unparalleled writings and his indomitable will, and his insistence that we be better than we have been
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeareβs Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Since the reporters wonβt walk out en mass when he insults one of their colleagues, Iβm not listening to any of them. You are what you repeatedly tolerate. So they must have no respect or honor. Donβt give me βbut they would lose their jobsβ. Please, Iβve walked away from better for my honor

MeanCat, historyβs greatest monster & my best nemesis, is back home from the vet. Heβs βok.β Heβs a bit loopy, too out of it to steal my wallet. Theresa made him his best Airbnb ever. Heβs gonna be inside for a few days as the meds kick in. Iβm glad heβs back to terrifying us all
Iβm not to blame but I am responsible. I wrote this during the protests & riots after the murder of George Floyd. What I knew then is what I know now: that we all matter or none of us do.
Please read this.
And act accordingly.
Courage. Use it.

I wonder, if this is sustainable in some absurd way, that we may train a whole generation out of the idea of shopping for anything in person. Including, you know, food.

"Human beings must involve themselves in the anguish of other human beings. This, I submit to you, is not a political thesis at all. It is simply an expression of what I would hope might be ultimately a simple humanity for humanity's sake."
~ Rod Serling

Goodnight, world.
Steady on, no wobbles.
You donβt need a New Yearβs resolution. You need a dayβs. Do the right thing today. And then do it again tomorrow. Thatβs it. All it takes is your life. Day after day. Thatβs how life is lived. And how itβs wasted. Your choice.
