My partner’s dad came up as a boilermaker and now manages hydroelectric projects for BC Hydro. He and I don’t have a *ton* in common but the most we connect is when he shows me a picture of some giant piece of machinery he’s working on and I go “whoaaaaa big piece of machinery!!!”
My dad’s side is all Business Jews (doctors, lawyers, accountants) and my mom’s side is all Crime Jews (artists, teachers, actual criminals)
My dad’s dad was an accountant at KPMG, he had polio as a kid and stuck with braces and crutches his whole working life. I get my nit-picking and grudge-holding from him.
My mom’s dad was a teacher, and maybe a criminal of some kind, I don’t really have the whole story on that guy.
