And there are alternatives about whom almost no one is talking. It reminds me of how often Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann were talked about, long after they left office. We are a disputatious people, and Platner helps to facilitate that.
Great quote. Would someone please erect it as a billboard facing the West Wing?
Is that why he put a 22 year-old in charge of terror prevention?
Heβs going to ban womenβs sports isnβt he?
Georgia O'Keeffe on the back of a friend's motorcycle. She is looking back over her shoulder with a big grin.
My favorite picture of Georgia. I used to live in Santa Fe; she was everywhere there, in spirit.

Ansel Adams photo of a moonrise over the village of Hernandez, NM
Her home is worth visiting, and the area around it. Including Pedernal, which she often painted. Nearby is the place where Ansel Adams took his Moonrise, Hernandez (NM) photo.
The front page of The National. The headline reads: THIS IS THE HUMAN COST. The photo stretches across the front and back pages of the paper and is the aerial view of 100 freshly dug graves for the murdered schoolgirls of Minab, Iran
NEW: US & Israeli have bombed a 4th school.
Shahid Hamedane School in Tehran was hit today, following schools hit in Minab and Parand, Iran.
And The National in Scotland seems to be the only newspaper in the Western world giving these war crimes appropriate coverage.
Tomorrowβs front pageπ
βͺπ Looks like a terrific introduction to forgotten women of US history. I love stuff like this, that makes you shout, WHY WASN'T I TOLD ABOUT THIS?
Oops! Maybe collaborate with your other selves in the multiverse, see if they can help you out. π
God forbid we should keep up with, much less lead, innovation in energy efficiency.
Wasn't the GOP once against waste? Now they like styrofoam, fossil fuels, fluorescent bulbs, and energy inefficiency. GOP, rollin' coal to own the libs.

Grateful for PM Carney stepping in to fill the void Trump left by abdicating leadership.
Her book expands on this essay, but it gives you a good start.
Hope you didn't have anything else on your to-read list. I've kind of loaded you down with material, but I hope it helps. There are good people everywhere doing good work β and getting no media for it.
We need to fundamentally reform SO many things. But police and prison reform should be near the top. Right up there with whatever changes are needed to let ALL the air out of the billionaire production bubble.
Bessent says the Trump admin may now lift sanctions on even more Russian oil to try and reduce oil prices during Trumpβs war. This would provide a massive injection of cash to fund Putinβs war machine.
It's what happens in a community, especially one with a social contract.
Have you read Robin Wall Kimmerer's The Serviceberry? Excellent book on alternative exchange in community. Beautiful little book.
Listen to America's Best Christian (N.B. NOT Christian Nationalist).
What IS it with Trump and Putin? We need to know. Timothy Snyder and Adam Kinzinger were both asking today, too, for the same reason. It just keeps cropping up. Like those Epstein files.
Mutual Aid has revolutionary potential.

Wouldn't know by asking them.

A new definition of a good friend, from personal experience today:
One who asks you the question you should have asked yourself, but somehow didnβt think to.
Mutual Aid may also have some models for dealing with such things. It would likely not revolve around money (pure speculation on my part), but in meeting one another's needs, like a barter system. Again, not something with which I have a lot of experience, but others do.
Ultimately, I imagine so. But I have to believe that the communities that tried it figured out at least provisional answers to the challenges. Bregman's books β e.g., Humankind, as well β are wonderfully readable and convincing.
cover of Rutger Bregman's book, Utopia for Realists
I can't recall how much detail Bregman got into in his book. It wasn't a full treatment, I know. He didn't answer every objection, but he had a few case studies that had been done. Richard Nixon, of all people, was interested in the UBI! Those involved in the case studies would have SOME answers.
Oh snapppp!
Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant at the memorial service for Rev. Jesse Jackson:
"The service wouldn't have been this long if were able to go to the Capitol, but the Capitol is now only reserved for pedophiles and podcasters."
