We all have to start somewhere. This is ARKEN-SWORD 1, my first fanzine, published early 1980, when I was 15. It featured Star Wars, Dr. Who, Superman II, Marvel UK, and Metropolis. I drew the cover and still have the artwork. What was the first work you self-published?

In case you don't know, I love the work of John M. Burns.

Sadly, I lost virtually all my research/writing/scans on a book I was making on his life.

I found an old hard drive with some scans, and have just found a way to access it.

There were many images produced by Terryl on this very subject, with the crowds arriving, the queues to get in, the interactions, but ultimately the movie did not have the time to include such details.

Belated birthday wishes to Michael Mann
One of the joys of my life was working with him on a book, looking through his archives, and watching him direct COLLATERAL.
He's still going strong and making the best films of his life.
More power to him!

Great to see Daniel Farson's series get a blu-ray release from the BFI. Most interested in seeing his interview with "Hank Janson" (wearing a mask to protect his identity!), but there's also the "Beat Scene," Soho clubs, UFOs, Peter Sellers and lots more. The trailer: youtu.be/rENw3pZTXkA?...

February 4, 1977: Star Wars: These continuity notes show a scene order changeβ€”Darth Vader is now introduced before Princess Leia (cf. Dec 22, 1976 notes). George Lucas & editor Paul Hirsch made many such changes after Richard Chew and Marcia Lucas left the production in 1976.
