Do whatever makes you feel safest - the Sculpey box says it’s safe, and their website has this. I use an oven thermometer and am careful not to burn it - tho I also make them pretty rarely. In 2009 they took out phthalates. Here’s a link from an artist with great tutorials: thebluebottletree.com

My fave brand is Sculpey - if you’re making a large item it’s best to make a wire (and if it’s bulky, add foil)

I make a foil tent and bake it in my normal oven on a dedicated cookie sheet. Crack a window or put the hood fan on - unless you do TONS of it, it’s not gonna frig up your oven. 😁

I have mostly only my childhood Legos, my brother took most of his. And I think I only have like, 5-6 medium-sized sets and the contents of one of those buckets of basic bricks from the early 90’s. It’s not too unhinged anymore.

Yeah even just like, by type of brick at that volume would make it a little easier. Like 2x2, 2x3, 2x4 etc in one bin, and 1x2, 1x3 etc in another, flat ones in another, and “special” in another. Especially if they’re relatively shallow bins, easier to just give it a quick stir and find stuff.

I once had all my Legos organized, but realized a lot of the joy I get from Lego is freestyling, and digging through the bin looking for the ✨perfect piece✨. So after I’ve made one then disassembled it, bin it goes. But it’s also a long like, 6” deep shallow bin - easier to find stuff.

I do work in a yarn store 😉 locally here there’s also a group on Facebook of knitters/weavers/spinners and sometimes stuff gets posted for “stash sales” in there - might be something in your area too. There’s a lot of folks that start it as a hobby and realise it’s not for them.

Swifts and winders are helpful. If she wants to dabble in spinning, maybe a drop spindle and some carding brushes? I’ve also caught Ashford wheels on sale secondhand many places before, it’s worth it to check Marketplace or call around to local yarn shops/guilds.

Can’t say I’m surprised by this commentary. I’ve deleted more than one Reddit account after encountering a pile of dudes just like this.

Some of my favourite desserts look like slop on a plate, if it’s tasty, I’m sold.

Disagree, it’s great for making a maquette of something you’re going to make with real clay / Sculpey.

Also my building is trialing Amazon Key, using an app on my phone to unlock the external doors and I hate that too. Instead of using the key fob which is on my keys I need to lock my car / unlock my door, I now need to take out my phone, unlock it, open the app, unlock door, WAIT FOR IT TO LOAD… 🫠

That being said my parents have a Google Home and Smart Lights and I personally hate them with the fire of a thousand suns. 😂

I do wish the smart lights had existed for my grandmother, who had rheumatoid arthritis so bad she couldn’t turn on a lamp or easily use a light switch. Some other features may be useful for disabled folks… but by and large they’re an add-on money grab and I prefer my appliances dumb.

I do love me some Gordon Lightfoot… in fact my vehicle is known as Gord the Ford. This would be a hilarious addition…

We had one of those as a piggy bank back in the day! Dad cut a hole in the lid.

I’ve lost three so far! I do have access to a lot of them being that I bartend at a Legion but on Friday night I bought a new one from the bar and had lost it by the time I got in the car 🫠

The main problem with the going down is the getting up. For I am no longer as nimble as in my youth.

I don’t fight it. If it’s a floor day, it’s a floor day. Down I go.
