My detached retina (from October) is healing and according to the doctor, it is very much reattached again.

I’ve had both eyes done and it was the best thing ever! You’ll be amazed at the difference in your new vision.

Both of my grandmas had schnauzers when I was a young girl. Yours are adorable!

Retired librarian here. I am presenting at my church this month about how to fight book censorship and support librarians. My heart aches for those working in libraries today. I had two challenges in my career and successfully kept the books in the library. Crazy times for sure.

I don’t know how many times I told my students this over the years. I am retired now but I wouldn’t say it today if I were teaching.

This is my summer paradise. I enjoy all of the wildlife that inhabits this part of our yard: the goldfinches, hummingbirds, rabbits, butterflies, and bees. Parts of it are messy and full of weeds but there is so much beauty too - kind of like life (messy but beautiful.)

I agree with you! I am now a retired teacher librarian and her posts have changed my thinking as well. I appreciate the wisdom of @heymrsbond.com and her ability to influence change for the better.

I watched this movie as a child and it deeply frightened me.

I loved this book! I also just read the graphic novel Big Jim and the White Boy which provided a different take on the Jim and Huck relationship. Also very good!

James by Percival Everett and Big Jim and the White Boy by David F. Walker (graphic novel). Both are retellings of Huck Finn from the Jim’s perspective. Loved both of them!

I fear the same thing. My son plans to get married in a national park this summer and I fear that even that won’t happen.

We’ve been hearing from many you that when you call your reps about the budget resolution, Republican staffers are now pushing back to claim the budget does NOT cut Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, etc. Clearly a memo went out to all Republicans to have their staff gaslight their constituents... (1/x)

I may not be able to control what is going on in this country but I do control how, where and when I spend my time and money. I’m not spending any money on Friday. Will you join me?

I felt the same way. I knew that she had to deal with her family’s history of trauma but did not realize the degree of her own trauma and the isolation.

How traumatizing it had to be for Denver growing up to know what her mother was capable of and living in that constant fear. To have that trauma along with all of her family’s trauma would be too heavy for a child. My empathy for Denver grew so much more in this chapter.
