Just hours after The Daily Cartoonist and others celebrated the 90th birthday of Sal Buscema the family released the news that Sal had passed away a few days ago. He was four days shy of his 90th birthday.

The tradition to publish special magazines for the christmas season began in the early 20th century and when comics hit the scene the idea of making annual christmas releases of comics seemed natural. Thus was born the christmas album, starting in 1930 and continuing to this day.
