Books by Black authors for this month and every month β€οΈ
Read Black books all year round
#blackbooksky #booksky #fantasybooksky #blackhistorymonth
Trying to find a happy medium between staying informed with whatβs happening in the United States and also not letting it completely consume and exhaust me. I feel like Iβve been in fight or flight since Inauguration Day, probably also why I read so much this month. Itβs my only escape from it all π₯²
January was a great reading month in terms of numbers, I donβt think Iβve ever read 6 books this quickly before. I enjoyed about half of them, Iβd say.
Also, I only read acowar to get closure on the series and I plan on googling the remaining books becauseππΌSJM.
Iβm ready for February π

And the list is ready! This is a list I call, THE BLACK CANON, it is a list of the top 50 Black novels, poetry, stage plays & non-fiction you need in your personal library. #booksky
We MUST archive the words of Black folks and the history that is in danger of being erased.

Nothing quite like escaping into a good book, especially in times like these. #booksky

Downloaded the Tome app just to delete it a day later lol. Itβs flooded with Acotar and Onyx Storm enthusiasts like, Iβll pass thanks though!!
Iβm loving the community here on #booksky anyways. So much more mindful and diverse π€π»
Banned Books that everyone should read:
Ah shit I just switched to fable from goodreads too lmao. Switching to StoryGraph asap ππΌ
Book 7 of 2025 π«
I finished reading acowar for book 6, but I no longer support the author so I wonβt be posting about that one. I wonβt be finishing the series either, maybe Iβll google what happens but honestly I donβt even care to know.
On to a better fantasy series, like this one!

Yep, sheβs another one I just heard about. I never got into her books thankfully, but Iβm seeing love for her new book everywhere
Literally just heard about the controversy behind SJM (apparently I live under a rock) and even though Iβm smack in the middle of a series, I DNFd it and tossed them right in the trash. Def going to be more mindful and do my research about which authors I choose to support in the future
Yea Iβm just gonna google how this shit ends and toss out all her books.
I recently continued reading ACOWAR after I dnfβd the series last year, just to find out the author is problematic. I already own the books so itβs no money in her pockets whether I finish the series or not, but I donβt know if Iβm able to separate the art from the artist or if I even want to now.
And thatβs a wrap for January!π #booksky
Book 5 of 2025 is The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden. Sheβs looking for the perfect man, heβs looking for the perfect victim. Did not expect the plot twist at the end of this one! A great psychological thriller, I inhaled this book in one sitting. βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ on Fable #booksky
This one is on my list!

Book 4 of 2025 was Diary of Murders by Sarah Cook. It follows two doctors with wicked desires, while also following a mystery killer loose in the streets of London. Lots of spice and lots of death paired with a gripping plot made this an easy βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ on Fable. Itβs a must read. #booksky
Book 3 of 2025 was Logan by Liz Gavin. It follows an aspiring singer who falls in love with a rockstar with a dark past. It was kind of giving A Star Is Born vibes but not near as good. It wasnβt terrible, but I was not a fan of the writing or βspicyβ scenes. It was very corny. βοΈβοΈ on Fable #booksky
Pass. It. On. πβ¨
That plot twist was NUTS
Getting a library card is punk as fuck and free!
I have not, but Iβve heard it ties in to this story so itβs on my tbr list!
