it is SO frustrating. I know this feeling.

Really sorry to hear this.
including Dobson and Santos isn't accurate. Dobson is a no nothings eat warmer and Santos does whatever the mayor wants.
China leads the world in solar deployment. Even parking lots and rooftops are being turned into solar power plants — generating electricity while using space that’s already paved.
China also exceeded its 2030 wind + solar capacity target (1.2 TW) in 2024 — about six years early. #Bettrification

Instead, we have a council leveraging every tool at its disposal to delay necessary safety improvements. The by-product of this obstruction is a community of citizens now watching their every move and holding them accountable for it. #winnipeg
The same coalition of citizens would be applauding this council for being responsive and responsible.
I can’t help but wonder where we would be today if the Public Works committee had simply listened to the people of this neighbourhood and the public service from the start, and quickly installed temporary bike lanes.
The very same council members greet them cordially. Then, after their five-minute delegation, they lob soft, "Are you aware...?"-style questions, giving these well-funded interests a platform to further their case.
The contrast in how members of this council treats different stakeholders is stark. Compare the reception given to this citizen-led movement for safer streets to the extended to paid lobbyists for the trucking or heavy construction industries.
a grassroots coalition of local residents, seniors, pedestrians, and yes, cyclists, has consistently shown up at City Hall. We’ve taken time from our lives to embrace the delegation process at every step to ensure this Council doesn't lose sight of the critical need for a safer Wellington Crescent
I'll do one better, you can watch them.
we used to build communities for people not cars
Advocating for safer streets is characterized as "radical" from two #winnipeg city councillors who are both well beyond the Best Before Date.
you know this council isn't used to an engaged and informed segment of the citizenry, holding them accountable, when they resort to name calling.
can I suggest a guest star?
was at an event this am with Federal Minister Melanie Joly. Wow impressive. I can see why people are keeping an eye on her.

Traffic cameras were built to count cars. I trained computer vision on Issaquah's public feeds to count the people instead: pedestrians and cyclists the city isn't tracking. Even on our busiest roads, there are a lot of people out there. Analysis soon, images now → liveableissaquah.org/humans.html
SO wait you are using publicly accessible feeds to do pedestrian and cycling counts?!
Thats amazing
Rich white dudes. They love their money and hate anything that gets in the way.
I am crazy, I am completely wild over here..my case wasn't getting clean so I have be running CASELESS for like a month now!
perhaps a proper photo-copy of it to ensure it doesn't fade anyways, then you could clean it up?
He also did a great job on this. He's right. While they open up the HTA the prov should allow photo enforcement anywhere the city sees fit. #winnipeg

LET ME VERY CLEAR. I know and have worked with Dan Vandal, highly respect him! That's not the issue,... I thought we were moving away from naming things after people?
When it comes to named things after people, with everything we have learned in the past few years, locally and nationally, you'd think we might avoid doing that...
The #winnipeg city council just couldn't help themselves.

doubt it cuz Tom Brodbeck already nailed it! www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/2026/0...
oh this council is already convinced that two MASSIVE road projects that will bury us in debt are essential to economic growth and nothing like DATA can convince them otherwise.
"This is #winnipeg that will never work here!" Get off your high horse of exceptionalism, Winnipeg is like so many other cities in North America
@shifter.info does a great job in this video highlighting the lessons learned all over the world from Paris to Edmonton.
