Dog fouling and speeding in residential areas are barometers of social and community health

We need to pay much more attention to social health 🫶🏼

Suzanne Crowe: How an SAD lamp helps me beat the winter blues while we wait for that ‘grand stretch’ There is cruelty to the dark mornings and afternoons of mid-winter. For some reason, the lack of light at this time of year bothers me more as I get older.

The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."

Suzanne Crowe: Every county needs a palliative care hub to provide dignified comfort to people at the end of their lives November brings reflection on loved ones now gone. Reading some death notices recently, I noticed how often adjectives such as “peacefully” are used to describe a person’s passing.

A peaceful death does not mean removing respect for a person and their autonomy
It means tackling inequities in palliative care provision, carer support, respite facilities and hospice care
