In my hubris I believed I could tape a diamond grid pattern without measuring or marking it out first
Church marketing bot that automatically followed me when I posted this, you are deeply confused

There's a lot playing into the death thing and why that particular topic was so important to me personally (e.g. seeing my mother completely unable to handle the concept of pet death and foisting the responsibility for horse euthanasia onto me a teenager), but this is enough oversharing lmao !!!
Noting that my grandparents are pastors (who speak in tongues), my mother taught classes, I was a youth missionary, we attended multiple times a week, my younger siblings were moved to a christian school once we could afford it, etc.
But a sense of community was fractured after the arrest thing
I realized how much of it was people desperately coping with mortality and randomness. The christian approach didn't sit well as I developed a broader perspective and my own relationship
Living in the normal world during this helped. When I visited home, church was suddenly disturbing to sit in on
Pastor being arrested for child sex abuse was the FIRST thing to sow seeds, though I remained religious for a few years due to my family
I largely credit developing an interest in mortuary science and cultural death practices (while taking an epistemology of religion course, a real one-two combo)

The coil of a baird's rat snake, a silver and orange colubrid, sticking out of a torn cardboard tube with her nose barely visible inside it
Busting out of her beloved cardboard tube
I'd raised other baby snakes before, but she was the first addition to kinda initiate my second era of snake keeping after I hadn't gotten any new ones in a couple years so she's still special

The official paper towel inspector took her job very seriously before approving me to spot clean
She's so long now. I remember when you fit in a little cup!

It's the clumber while PGGV is reserve... interesting, would've preferred it the other way around. Just not a fan of showy clumbers and I see some people being kind of split even if they're usually clumber stans, but at least it's not the cav
Overall not my favoritest Crufts ever, but always fun!!
okay it's time... we've seen these dogs before and my opinions are already in place so i'll just screenshot the winner at the end
taking a break during the token police propaganda section before Best in Show... yes let's all cheer for the body cam montage of setting dogs on people :/

So that means we have our lineup for Best in Show here in a little bit. Here's my stances...
Rooting for: VIKING!!! COME ON BOY!!! Here's his screenshots from group since I didn't post them
Fine if they win: lakeland, pbgv, mini schnauz
Don't want to win: clumber, corgi, cavalier
The clumber won group... not what I was rooting for but I know some people who will be delighted if it gets BiS. I just never like the show builds after seeing such nice ones in the working presentation
Shoutout to the flattie in third and irish in fourth, but the GSP didn't even place??? Robbed
A welsh springer spaniel standing in a show ring
A weimaraner standing in a show ring
Close up of a gordon setter standing in a show ring
A pointer standing in a show ring
Some miscellaneous other screenshots I took
Okay my shortlist definitely would've had GSP, munsterlander, either springer, either irish setter, weimaraner
The judge's shortlist included GSP, irish setter, welsh springer, and weimeraner so I'm pleased enough with validation of my picks
A brittany standing in a show ring
A GSP trotting around a show ring
A nova scotia duck toller standing in a show ring
A springer spaniel standing in a show ring
Here's the brittany I didn't like and the GSP I did... and some frantic random notes
I rarely like chessies or pointers here and this year was no different
The labrador is a monster. I don't even wanna post it
Working clumber >>> show
I think I like both the springer and field spaniels!

An irish setter standing in a show ring
A large munsterlander standing in a show ring
Hard to keep up with notes and screenshots for this group aahhhh slow down
Viszlas and GSP good, I actually do like the irish setter more than I usually do - big surprise there
LARGE MUNSTERLANDER MY BELOVED always a fave for me, I'm so biased for them. Always winner in my heart
Group! Initial thoughts:
I like a lot on entry, typical for this group where I have to really work to narrow down faves
Ones I don't think I like are brittany, irish setter (not unusual), lab, or nova scotia
I never like show goldies, the BoB is same as'25 which iirc is better than '24 but still
A clumber spaniel sitting at attention
A black cocker spaniel standing in front of a fake bush and fence
Labrador retrievers sitting in a show ring but very ready to go
A pair of spaniels seen from behind as they stare up at their handler
Some cuties from the working gundog presentation before group judging

i love the dog rumor mill. give me the gossip
