A cross stitch render based on a scene from Avatar: The Last Airbender where Zuko has thrown the mask of the Blue Spirit into the water. There is a quote reading "You did the right thing. Leave it behind. The mask is based on kabuki masks and looks like a blue face with stylised mouth, eyebrows, and teeth. The teeth come out of the massive smile and there are two fangs on the top row of teeth. There are pale spikes coming off the sides of the mask and brown strap that is used to tie it on. The mask is half submerged in water and there are ripples around it.

18/100 #the100dayproject another busy day at work and have to start packing to go on a trip home! But I finished a #cross-stitch pattern based on #ATLA and opened an #Etsy shop! Feel free to check it out, I don't have much on there yet. textstylesdesign.etsy.com

Two patches on the back left shoulder of a black canvas jacket. The one on the left is black with an orange border. It has a glue gun embroidery and says "I MAKE THINGS". The one on the right is white with a green border. It has a tomato pincushion with needles in it and says "stitch more worry less"

17/100 #the100dayproject work was insane today. I made a new #cross-stitch chart, but definitely still a digital #wip. But between work tasks I managed to sew some #patches onto my #battlejacket!

A wooden hoop frame with white Aida cloth stretched inside it. The words "HANGING WITH MY GNOMIES" is cross-stitched with three gnomes in between the words. The left gnome is blue with green dots, the middle gnome is green with yellow stripes and holding a lantern, and the right gnome is yellow with blue stripes. They each have brown boots, tall pointed hats, and a fluffy white beards.

16/100 #the100dayproject it's finally finished this #gnome #cross-stitch! I love how much detail the backstitching brought back to their fluffy beards and faces. Now I'm stuck in the paralysis of what project to start next..

Three cross stitched gnomes in a row except the third isn't finished. The left is blue and green, the middle is yellow and green and the right is blue and yellow. They are on white 14ct Aida cloth in a wooden hoop and there is golden Hokusai's Wave needle minder above the gnomes

15/100 #the100dayproject I really thought I would finish this #wip today but so many things kept getting in the way. On the bright side, I've designed three different #cross_stitch charts to start after this one.

14/100 #the100dayproject got the second #gnome done! Just one more to #cross-stitch and then I have to decide whether I want to backstitch or leave them as #pixels. Then I'll add the lettering!

Part of an embroidery hoop with white Aida cloth mounted. There is a green gnome holding a lantern in the center and the shape of what will become a blue gnome to his left. They are both made from thread by cross stitching. A round magnetic needle minder in the shape of a golden version of Hokusai's Wave holds a single needle in the top left.

Page from a sketchbook with a drawing of a skeleton in partial armour holding a sword and a book. He is holding the book out for a ghostly animal to read from it. There is also a head study of the character looking up with his jaw open and a hovering crown of glowing crystals floating around his skull. In between the figure and the head study are the words "Turner Bookman" because that is his name.

7?/100 #the100dayproject wow I'm awful at keeping up with this.. but here's a #D&D character I'm working on! He's a skeleton raised by a necromancer. But before he died, he was a simple bookseller who dreamed of adventure. Until he got a rare black magic tome and was killed for it.. Turner Bookman!

4/100 #the100dayproject I've been working on projects for work the last couple days and don't feel like I've done a lot of creative things for me. But here are some #stickers and cards I made to go with the #embroidery #keycaps!

Wow! Isn't it amazing how the earth moves and warps? We think of rock as being solid, but in so many places the layers of stone are shifted like fluid from the massive pressures of our planet. Incredible.

Six keycaps in two columns of three. Each cap has a purple flower embroidered onto a loose silk weave pressed into a plastic frame that houses the keycap bottom that allows it to interface with a mechanical keyboard switch. Each flower has a golden french knot in the middle to add some colour and glitter to the piece. The top right keycaps used canvas instead of silk and so the base colour is more off-white than white and the weave is tighter.

2/100 #the100dayproject Today I finished up a small batch of the embroidered keycaps and am really happy with how they turned out! I am raffling them off to keyboard enthusiasts in my local area groups and am excited to make more soon. Writing a blog post about the process!

A round embroidery hoop with mostly blank fabric. In the middle, a partial skull sits nestled among dirt, moss, Forget Me Nots both alive and dead, a swatch of brown fabric that will become "something" maybe, and the start of a fern patch.

This #wip is taking forever but it's helping me mess with threads and techniques that I haven't tried before. I don't know if I'll show much of its progress online, but I'm excited for what it may become.

An oval embroidery hoop mounted with a loose-weave silk. A grid is drawn in pencil that has been warped by the stretching of the fabric and in the center of the middle squares running down the middle are four small embroidered flowers with a mauve floss. The bottom two flowers have a golden middle with a metallic floss.

It's not much for the first day of #the100dayproject but I'm testing out fabrics and threads for making more embroidered keycaps. I think I'm settling on some loose silk and a DMC 3042 for the petals and E3821 for the french knot in the middle. #embroidery #art #wip

I really like rocks. I was a sculpture student and fell in love with working with stone. As homage to that, here are some film photos in 35mm and medium format that I took over the last year in Illinois and Arizona. I have lots more, but will start with this sampling

Unfortunately, I think the yarn I'm using is some sort of synthetic and not animal fiber. I haven't tried felting it together yet, but not sure it will work. If it does, I'll definitely try to keep going with it!

22.02.2025 01:01 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

If I can add one eye, I can probably add a second! I was looking at netting needles that have a lot of thread wrapped around a center post and thought that might work as well? At least for very thin wool. Probably not as helpful for this yarn I'm using to practice.

22.02.2025 01:00 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Definitely need more practice with chains! How do you keep it from twisting?? Once I get the hang of the tension, I'll start practicing either turning or in the round and I'm hoping to make a hat. Got my eye on some really nice beigy-green wool.
