Happening now- the Broadview, IL ICE facility: a few dozen people have gathered here over the bizarre situation re: a US citizen who was allegedly detained by federal immigration agents, only for agents to reportedly say she wasn't there.
Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison on scene as well.
DHS claimed "an ICE agent had fired 'defensive shots' into Martinez's vehicle after Martinez 'intentionally ran over' another agent."
But body cam video now "shows that Martinez's vehicle, a blue Ford Fusion, was stationary or going at a very low rate of speed when he was fatally shot."
Also good to note his biggest break with Trump was last month with tariffs. I do wonder if Dan Crenshaw losing on Tuesday for the crime of not being loyal enough played a part in this.
Kevin Kiley is running for re-election as an independent. I'm not going to get my hopes too high on this (Kiley has been very MAGA loyal this session), but this is some 'desperate maybe this will work' energy now that he's running in a +6 Dem district and I love it.

This resolution does nothing to advance their freedom and instead, puts Congress on record as giving the Administration further pretext for a war that should not have been started in the first place.

USA Today noted last week that these claims were "...based on assumptions that are wrong or greatly exaggerated." The reason I posted what I did was because a yea vote for this resolution gives credence to Trump's claims and allow him to claim bipartisanship w/ reasoning experts claim is unfounded.

Hey there! My main reasoning for this is due to the final two paragraphs in the resolution. It begins being about terror orgs, but then shifts into talking about Iran's missile program, which Trump cited as one of the reasons that Iran needed to be attacked.
I do appreciate you responding back. I promise I'm not acting in bad faith. I am just very firm that if the wording of a bill is fascist or supports fascist ends, then I have to count it. And, at bare minimum, I believe the Dems that voted for this who don't support the war should have known better.
I appreciate that. I think that's where we firmly disagree though. For me, the votes show a Congress that is more mad they weren't asked than that it happened. I could very well be wrong, but especially in a fascist atmosphere, giving any credence to the fascists in power in dangerous.

I'm asking though if you think my reasoning for saying what I said about H Res 1099 is wrong. I've also been talking about H Con Res 38 for the past two weeks and did a repost about it as well.
I should have followed up my post with this info & that's on me. That said, if you disagree with my reasoning I'm open for hearing why.

Quick sorry to quote post a reply. I wanted to state my reasoning for my post. As was pointed out, the point of the bill was in regards to Iran and terror orgs. The problem though is in the final two paragraphs, it switches to talking about Iran's missile program.
I get that a resolution is more of a general statement, but voting yea to language that Trump is using to justify this war, for me, only gives bipartisan validation to an illegal war.
