Earle’s ghostly face. And two favorite lines:
“It’s fear. That’s the key. My favorite emotional state.”
and
“It’s not a puzzle at all. It’s a map.”

This ep has some of my favorite Peaks moments. That slow pullback as Cooper and Annie talk in the RR. Ben whirling around to look at … what exactly? The wave of hand tremors. The return of the Giant. Bob’s appearance in Glastonbury Grove.

The Gordon-Shelly kiss is my favorite scene from this ep, largely because of Cole’s dialogue and Bobby’s reaction. I do always get a kick out of the wine-tasting scene.
And, it’s a commonly asked question, but where are Donna’s sisters?
#twinpeaks #davidlynch
If that’s the case, you are right.
That doesn’t work.
From what I understand it was meant to exist on its own as a movie, for overseas release, as if the rest of the series didn’t exist. It was part of ABC’s deal with Lynch, a way for them to be sure to get some $$ back.
Are you referencing the “international” pilot, with the ending with Bob and Mike in the hospital basement?

Cole screen time is to be appreciated. His deafness: perhaps to keep the director distant from other characters? But then, he hears Shelly. And Albert later exposes that he can hear just fine.
I’ve always liked Cooper’s penguin joke.

Of the late arrivals, Annie and John Justice Wheeler are the 2 I most look forward to seeing. I wish JJW had been given more to do.
I applaud Donna’s use of “pop,” the correct term (not “soda”) in the PNW when I grew up there.

The drawer pull: I can still only theorize after all these years.
When they meet at the Roadhouse, I always want Donna to ask Shelly, "Is your boyfriend done trying to kill my boyfriend?" #twinpeaks #davidlynch

The (infamous?) Diane Keaton-directed episode. She did provide some genuinely interesting shots & visuals. Storywise (for me), we begin to pull out of the mid-S2 tailspin, w/ Little Nicky, the Civil War & the James spinoff in the rearview. #twinpeaks #davidlynch

This episode has great scenes in the Earle, Leo, and Packard storylines. The Earle storyline has its silly moments to come (the horse costume, for one), but I always look forward to the arrival of Kenneth Welsh.
“Asian Man Killed!!”

Michael Parks: outstanding. But it’s at this stage that I’m always ready to be done w/ OEJ/Renault/Hank. A difficult episode, but we get great, creepy setups re: Leo & Earle. Love the abundant use of transition shots from WA locations.

Where and when has the Major been?
I think about events that could have been: Cooper taking up residence in Twin Peaks, potentially at Dead Dog Farm, and how much I might have enjoyed an Audrey spinoff.

True
Any weaknesses in this episode, though, automatically get a pass given the Mod Squad reunion between Peggy Lipton and Clarence Williams III. #twinpeaks #davidlynch

A mixed-bag in the challenging mid S2. We have Little Nicky, 18yo Nadine, the Milford wedding & the James spinoff. BUT … we also get some great Cooper scenes, Lodge mythology, & arrivals of Denise Bryson & Andrew Packard. Unmissable. #twinpeaks #davidlynch
Just my opinion, but while I think Lynch gave this storyline value and heartbreaking depth in the S2 finale (I'll comment on that when that ep rolls around on this re-watch), up til then, it just never connected with me and felt like the writers' efforts at being quirky. But I love Wendy Robie.

I wish Nadine had a better S2 storyline. I recall watching the high school scenes when this episode originally aired and thinking, this is not what Twin Peaks is supposed to be. #twinpeaks #davidlynch
“THE” NIN
Yeah, I've always liked James Marshall and the character. They both get a lot of unfair criticism from podcast hosts. He's one of many actors/characters I think the writing room let down. He deserved better. The reasoning they give him for leaving town is just silly.

The Roadhouse scene, the interrogation room scene. Some of the best Peaks moments. “It’s almost time to shuffle off to Buffalo.” Directed by Tim Hunter, another of my favorites. People like to hate on James but his logic really is warped. #twinpeaks #davidlynch

Caleb Deschanel is one of the show’s better directors. (Lynch is in his own category.) I’m already dreading Ray Wise’s departure, but the scenes he gives us in these early S2 episodes are always incredible. The MT Wentz storyline … sigh. #twinpeaks #davidlynch

Such purity to this Frost-written, Lynch-directed episode. The final 2 paired scenes (the Roadhouse/the Palmer living room) are still among the best I’ve ever seen on TV or film. “It is happening again.” #twinpeaks #davidlynch

Ben Horne may be the luckiest character in Twin Peaks. He escaped accountability for so much. #twinpeaks #davidlynch

Cooper’s interrogation of Mike is one of those scenes I eagerly look forward to on every watch. Mysterious, disturbing, and so Twin Peaks. Al Strobel was amazing as Mike. "He is Bob, eager for fun. He wears a smile. Everybody run." #twinpeaks #davidlynch
It certainly would have taken some reimagining. I’d swap out the Evelyn, Little Nicky, or Civil War storylines for more Sternwood. Lol.
Awaiting arrival of A Place Both Wonderful and Strange. Eager to read it.

Nadine’s storyline & Bobby’s insurance scam weigh things down, but we get some good Donna-Harold drama and one key rescue. I’d like to say I saw through the Fumio Yamaguchi ruse when this originally aired, but I don’t recall. #twinpeaks #davidlynch
A longer run for him would have been great.
