Update: 4 books left that I want to read to cost Bezos money, and 4 days until I go on vacation AND the KU trial ends.

In the midst of the audiobook of Half City by Kate Golden.
Iβm surprised by how much I like the setting β fantasy within a realistic contemporary setting. It feels almost sci-fi but in a demon hunter way.

Partway through the new Meghan Quinn (Just for the Cameras) and all I can think is: do men really still have fauxhawks??
I canβt tell if the fauxhawk is meant to be funny or if itβs literally just 2008 again.
πππΆοΈ
I cannot tell you how surprising it was to read a Meghan Quinn book (Runaway Groomsman) and make it 2/3 of the way through before they even kissed.
No shade, I love the slow burn, I just wasnβt expecting it from her.

The thing I love most about the start/end of a month on Bluesky is seeing how many people use StoryGraph.
Itβs both better than Goodreads and doesnβt deliver money/data to evil Billionaires. Whatβs not to love?

Iβm hoping for March to be better than Feb in terms of my TBR. Though I still have some KU books on my list before my trial ends.
Most anticipated books for March:
β’ Toe to Toe by Fallon Ballard
β’ Lake Effect by Cynthia DβAprix Sweeney
β’ Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line by Elle Cosimano
LFG

February was⦠something. My fave February reads:
1. How to Kill a Guy in 10 Dates by Shailee Thompson (I cannot express how much fun I had reading this book)
2. Dove by Paisley Hope
Funny, I didnβt get to several of the books I was most looking forward to. Maybe in March π€

Got up and finished Stephanie Archerβs The Wild Card today. Definitely one of those books you love not because itβs the best book but just because the VIBE is ON POINT.
What a way to start a weekend.
πππΆοΈ
This month was an absolute chaotic mess of work and travel (for work), but Iβm hoping to wrap up strong and get back to my book logging.
Now, to read AS MANY KU BOOKS AS POSSIBLE before my 3-month trial ends.
π€ for more cozy reading time at home in March.

Worst thing to see on a NetGalley listing?
βBerkley Publishing Groupβ

LOL I guess I underestimated the appeal.
You might like We Are Legion β lots of discussion of space manufacturing schedules and capacity.
Went outside my comfort zone with We Are Legion by Dennis E. Taylor this week. Absolutely π₯ first 30% of a book & premise, but after that I got a littleβ¦ bored.
This book has 4.06βοΈ on StoryGraph. Is it that other people love logistics? Or do I need to read book #2 to fully appreciate #1?

How is it already February?? This feels like a slow release month, but these are the top 3 new books Iβm excited about:
β’ And Now, Back To You by BK Borison
β’ If Only You Knew by Ellie K Wilde
β’ Honey Bee Mine by Sarah T Dubb
HBU?

January, youβve been lovely (though too cold to function). My top 3 Jan reads:
1. Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green
2. Catch Her if You Can by Tessa Bailey
3. A Deal with the Bossy Devil by Kyra Parsi
Now to curl up and not move until Monday!

After liking the new Navessa Allen short story, I decided to read Lights Out. I always thought this wasnβt my genre because I tried to read Haunting Adeline a few years ago and viscerally hated it (literally worst book ever).
Turns out, Lights Out was funner and cuter than I expected.

The mayor of New York telling people to stay home, use their library cards for digital resources, and read a romance novel is THE GREATEST GOVERNMENT ADVICE YOU WILL EVER GET FROM A POLITICIAN.

π You had me at βMystical Cat Shelterβ
Update at the end: Not perfect but a really enjoyable read. Very horny book but it gave enough plot that it didnβt feel like overkill.
I think i needed this kind of warm, fuzzy, whimsical (villainous) romance for this π₯Άweekend.
Now: Whatβs next?

I love it when it feels like an author is having fun writing a book. Itβs just more fun to read something when you can feel the creator was having a good time.
Thatβs the joy Iβm getting out of The Dark Lordβs Guide to Dating and Other War Crimes. Iβm 15% in, and we out here having a blast.

Things that consistently delight me, but that I forget about because a lot of books donβt have them (an incomplete list):
1. Chapter titles

NetGalley approval notification for Stormy Weather by Chelsea Curto
Is there any better feeling for a Friday afternoon?

Finally got the chance to read Tessa Baileyβs new installment in the Big Shots series, Catch Her if You Can!
After the letdown I felt from books 3&4, this one felt like a real comeback. The yearning is top tier, and for a fluffy spicy romance, I couldnβt have wanted more.
πππΆοΈ #netgalley
Itβs not you. I felt like this book was written expressly trying to keep the reader in the dark, and that rubbed me the wrong way.
No shame in DNFing.
So excited to read this one!
Finally back from a full week of traveling, which was great fun but really cut down on my reading time.
The highlights of my travel reads:
1. Most Eligible (totally easy to eat up on a plane)
2. Catherine Cowlesβ Lost and Found series (Repetitive? Yes. Engrossing? Also yes.)
πππΆοΈ
Thrilled for Next Level Love by Shameez Patel to come out tomorrow! Itβs a fun little nerd culture rom com, but you donβt have to be deep into nerd culture to get into it.
Plus β some fun tidbits for the city planning fans out there (I didnβt know these existed; then I married one).
πππΆοΈ
Traveling this week and low on reading time⦠but 20% into Most Eligible by Isabelle Engel and I could not be more into it.
Books with a reality TV setting are hit or miss, but Iβm getting exciteddddddd.
πππΆοΈ #netgalley
Yes!! If itβs so weak that even I, not a time travel person, can poke holesβ¦ Iβm not impressed.
Pet peeve: when books under-think the impact of time travel.
If youβre going to do time travel, do it right. Think it through.
ππ
LFG, sounds like itβs time to give it a shot.
