Media Fusion Officially Joins ORCID Direct Membership to Enhance Researcher Identification #Japan #Osaka #Research_Management #Media_Fusion #ORCID
We've had a busy four years @orcid.org. As we embark on our new strategic plan in 2026, in this post I reflect back on all that we have been able to achieve since 2022 with the participation of our community, our members, and of course the amazing ORCID team! Thanks to you all for your support.
Our new lowest membership fee tier takes effect in January 2026, and it will apply to eligible small organisations, making participation more accessible for over 3,000 members.
Read how this change supports a more inclusive research ecosystem. https://doi.org/10.64000/j2bgz-v7h50
NIH says they will announce (finally) the updated biosketch requirements for proposal submitted on or after January 20, 2026 by December 15. Be prepared. Get your SciENcv and ORCID set up sooner rather than later.

ORCID member orgs strengthen the schol. record by contributing data about researchers:
✅ Validated affiliations added by universities
✅ Awards by funders, and
✅ Pubs by publishers allow researchers to provide evidence of their career history.

Our community-driven trust network means ORCID records accumulate trustworthiness over time. Validated Trust Markers added...
What are Trust Markers? 🤔
Each piece of data added by our members is a #TrustMarker, marked with the a green check + origins of that data. Trust Markers ⬆️ trustworthiness of #ORCID records over time from data added by validated sources.

🛑 Researchers often use a personal email for submissions so they can stay contactable.
✅ What's best is to add an institutional email your ORCID record so publications + funders collecting authenticated iDs in their processes can use the #TrustMarker assoc. w/ the institutional domain.

Food for thought publishers! All of the major submission platforms support @orcid.org reviewer credit... #researchsky
I’m turning down journal reviews if the journal doesn’t update activities to ORCID. I get a lot of requests and I need to prioritize somehow. I ain’t collecting “reviewer certifications” from Genome biology and scientific reports, etc., when Nature Family and ACS give me credit for my time.
The ORCID-ASREN Consortium is a crucial step forward for research in the Arab world.
We are thrilled to announce a new regional #ORCID consortium led by the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN). The ORCID-ASREN Consortium is the second of our Regional Consortia program, launched in 2023. 🤝

We are also the hub in the Community Trust Network formed by our member organizations. 56% of active #ORCID records now contain Trust Makers — validated information added by our members, rather than researchers themselves.

We focus on Path 3 - Improve acknowledgments to get acknowledgees more credit, and argue for the following:
1. Include ORCID numbers in parentheses after names of individuals in acknowledgments.
Researchers can do this one immediately, with no policy or infrastructure changes needed!
🛑 Researchers often use a personal email for submissions so they can stay contactable.

@dsquintana.bsky.social To answer your earlier question, most publishers are doing a pretty good job of ORCID adoption, and have improved in recent years. This chart is from a recent report by Digital Science: Australian National Persistent Identifier Benchmarking Toolkit. doi.org/10.6084/m9.f...
