I can't stress enough how important having good music is to working on any project. As a writer, I make playlist for almost everything I work on.
Daily reminder that they are still poisoning Appalachian people with tainted drinking water.
Nobody deserves to die of bad water in America. Nobody deserves to watch their family get sick because of bad water.
Some days being an advocate for Appalachia is harder than others. I often find it difficult to regulate my outrage when my people’s struggles are casually dismissed and our experiences invalidated.
Empathy is not judging the suffering of others, but putting yourself in their shoes and helping.
That is so cool!
And yes - I still count “get an autograph from the lady who played Ellie in Last of Us (the game) for the Sprat” as one of my ‘made it goals’.
I missed the first 20 years of the Sprat’s life because I didn’t know about her, and now I can’t imagine my life without her.
These MAGA chumps who try to make life hard for the LGBTQ+ community don’t even know what love is.

I am often surprised by the vast differences in sensibilities that exist beyond the mountains. My mother always taught me that the worst thing any man can ever be is a hypocrite. What you say doesn't matter - its what you do that gives words their strength.
Nobody who ever treats you like you are disposable or your feelings aren't valid actually cares about you.
Without empathy, stability, and justice - our nation withers and sickens from a starvation of the soul. We must resist. We must learn to live lean and nourish our own hearts, not simply as a matter of survival...
But as an act of defiance.
