Staff at the nationβs largest Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility have placed bets on which detainee will be the next to die by suicide, according to new reporting from the Associated Press based on 911 calls and detainee accounts.
The Utah legislature tried more last-minute shenanigans to split Salt Lake County (the main Dem county in the state) but failed by 5 seconds. Karma
Of course he did. Changing the rules while theyβre playing the game and losing. Worse than toddlers
Doing shady stuff right before the end of the session, when nobodyβs watching. Very on brand for the Utah legislature
Ben Winslow is one of the hardest working local political journalists and reads every bill that gets filed β which is a feat that not even most legislators can claim.
Which part was his favorite, I wonder? The part where he signed a bunch of bills to weaken the judiciary despite past promises not to? Or the bill passed that would gut environmental protections for Utahns? Maybe the continued anti-trans legislation? (So much hatred directed against so few and all)
Utah is not faring much better: We only have 28 affordable and available rental homes per 100 extremely low income renter household
So, he's going to split the MAGA vote when another Republican does run? What's the strategy here π€¨

The legislature has asked schools to make sweeping 5% across-the-board budget cuts, just so they can approve a $20/year tax cut for most families
The Utah state legislature is a poor steward of public finances. Several programs are being cut this year, more are on the docket for cuts in the coming year, and several were cut last year. But we've got the budget for approximately $500 million cumulatively in annual tax cuts over recent years.
