We do! With strangers she’s generally alert-concerned but with friends she’s familiar and excited-happy or relaxed-happy. She has a positive response to the word’ friend’ too - she knows it’s going to be someone she’s happy to see. Dogs are perfect.

She’s a goldendoodle and she was an extremely intrinsically motivated communicator from 9 wks old so by 12 wks I bought a kit. She has about 3 doz words on her board now and communicates well but I did very little. She was SO keen to pick it up just by watching me!
I’m re-watching Schitt’s Creek for the 3rd time and have come to the rather confronting realisation that Jo and I are Patrick and David. As Jo remarked, thankfully, David is me as a caricature rather than as earnest a representation as Patrick is Jo, but still… 😬🤣😄

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.
