This is just straight neolib ACT policy dressed up as a Westpac report.

We don't want the Americanisation of our health system. Any public sector woes would be dwarfed by the poverty and poor health privatisation would bring to many AoNZers. Westpac and Seymour can just fuck off with this. #nzpol

This is not journalism, this is PR for the profit seekers at the expense of the NZ public.

NZ desperately needs journalistic and political representation if it is at all to protect the healthcare system. Those who have the goal of privatisation sure have plenty of representation.

Julie Anne Genter/NZ Greens post: In 2020, as Minister for Women, I helped pass changes to the Equal Pay Act to bring in a world-leading system to address systemic undervaluation and underpayment of female-dominated professions: Nurses, midwives, early childhood educators, teachers, clerical and admin workers, librarians, care and support workers, and so many crucial roles that enable our society to flourish.

This cruel Coalition Government repealed that law and cancelled 33 claims that were in process - denying fair pay to hundreds of thousands of low paid essential workers, mostly women.
We will bring it back, and fix our tax system, so we can pay our essential workers properly. @nzgreenparty #payequity #nzpol

Hey thanks NZ Greens for being the only party on International Womenโ€™s Day who made a serious, detailed, informed post about the inequity faced by NZ women and committed to doing something about it. ๐Ÿ’š

Shock as Auckland hospital workers told jobs may be cut next year Health NZ signals possible changes for Auckland support roles, staff express shock.

'Diabetic dementia hospital patient dies while waiting for food.'

They'll blame the overworked nurse but it's totally on this ruthless cruel gov slashing non clinical support staff.

Austerity kills.. #nzpol

Israeli special forces reportedly disguised themselves as healthcare workers to dig up a grave in Lebanon

Israeli special forces reportedly disguised themselves as healthcare workers to dig up a grave in Lebanon

Hang on Israel, I thought you guys said that disguising soldiers as health workers was a massive no-no, or is that only when they're actually health workers and you want an excuse to shoot them and hide their corpses anyway?

EVERY ACCUSATION, for fuck sake, every single one.

We will go wherever things remain decent, and abandon those platforms that don't

Calling war profiteering and gambling "live markets" to profit from is beyond fucked

It's similar across healthcare, even to the IT side of things (anyone remember the issue in Akl recently?) and other sectors (e.g. Agriculture)

(Most of) our unemployed youth *are* qualified, *are* keen to work, *are* willing and able, but employers are either not willing or able to pay properly.

05.03.2026 17:36 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

A lot of the unemployed young people are qualified but in something the government refuses to fund, like healthcare, and so there's no jobs available for them in their field.
E.g. only 45% of new grad. nurses got a place last year due to $$ cuts, despite the promised place when they started study.

And yes, I know ACT only think it's bad because their Dear Leader will lose most of his play-mates on Snapchat if the ban goes ahead

05.03.2026 17:18 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

How absolutely, appallingly bad does an idea have to be for the Greens and ACT to agree it's bad?

Immigration Minister Erica Stanford apologises after inflating overstayer figures The government has been accused of scaremongering after Erica Stanford said there were "tens of thousands more" overstayer.

"Misspoke" is such a weaksauce euphemism for "lied" and it seems like a daily occurrence that senior members of the government are having to admit to have "misspoken". Here is today's edition.

Deputy prime minister Mr 8% needs to shut the fuck up and be made to understand that critical national transport infrastructure should be owned entirely by the government and operating completely independently of the obligation to "make a profit", whether it be planes or trains or ferries.

It's important for New Zealanders who don't subscribe to the March 2019 Christchurch killer's violent extremism, & white supremacism to appreciate the degree to which what's in his 'manifesto' (which remains banned in the country) is openly signalled by, & inspires influential far-right podcasts.
