A must read analysis of the newly released“ National Security Strategy”. The TLDR - Europe is our enemy because of migration and anti hate speech policies- and the US vows regime change. www.programmablemutter.com/p/america-ha...
I know it's small sparks amidst a bigger conflagration, but this Netflix buying WB thing is, uh, bad. Like really bad. The film media industry is already floundering because it's become so bloated by cash grabs instead of making enjoyable entertainment, but this is gonna be the death blow.
Also, unrelated, my MFA will be, ahem, in the books as of December 11, so that's pretty neat!
The only thing I care about on Spotify Wrapped is having the statistic that apparently I've listened to Dark Side of the Moon 53 times this year. Onward to 54!
*an, what I get for not checking the autocorrect lmfao
Tell Elon to come debate and actual Billionaire Genius, and a few other things besides. Happy Halloween!
They are doing everything they can to distract us from the needing to release the Epstein files. Do not get distracted.
I'm not saying Bob Iger is singlehandedly responsible for the media literacy crisis and the purity culture surrounding it, but he's sure the fuck not helping either.
Propaganda is so fucking easy and pervasive these days. I am literally terrified of how much we are actively degrading our own critical thinking skills and how much of our attention is forced onto propaganda today.
I know how to read media critically because I have (most of) an advanced degree in, y'know, doing that. How many well-meaning folks who aren't fashy but simply do not know better are gonna get taken by these types of ads?
and to be honest, that connection is exactly all I needed to hear to confirm that my dog-whistle hearing is in fact still tuned. It's ridiculous how suspicious we have to be of everything that "sounds reasonable" on the surface. And it's terrifying how well it works.
except this.
I can find nothing about this company. like nothing. I don't know if I'm failing my search, but I have found no info about who owns or funds this campaign or what its actual plans are.
I keep seeing these ads for a generic-sounding LLC about how healthcare costs are out of control, but something in my brain was twigging. it's a dot org that's just "safe and affordable healthcare", on behalf of overcharged patients. alright.
For the first time, I deeply deeply do not feel safe going to campus. This has always been my safest place where I can be most aligned with myself, and we're having to strip campus and our offices and classrooms of all mention of queerness, diversity, and safety for marginalized students.
My university administration just told all instructors to remove the word "diversity" and all land acknowledgements from our syllabi and any official communications going forward, in compliance with the administration. Fuck. This.
hey you know how to spot fascists? they get real mad when you call them fascists.
I need somebody to invent an ADHD medication that has intrinsic instant gratification for taking it and a loose schedule.
Oh boy, my favorite game: did I take my Straterra and immediately dissociate about it or did I not yet take it? 🙃
Luckily at least it seems like interest and research is picking up a lot in the last ten years, so hopefully it'll diversify in the future and we can learn more about how dissociative disorders present in other cultures.
The most egregious thing to note is that basically all of the researchers dominant in this field are US/UK/Netherlands, all very white western colonial nations. There's a little research from/about a few other demographics (that I've found, but maybe it's a bias of researching from within the US).
I both love and hate that all research on DID has basically been done by the same like dozen people. Love, because it makes it easy to read a lot of it since I'm reading the same few authors who are all referencing each other. Hate, because there's no real diversity of perspective.
If someone you know regrets their vote for the orange shitshow now that fascism is here and not just a theoretical possibility, ask them to do something to correct their mistake. Ask them to get involved in resistance efforts. Ask them to do something and not just give lip service to their regret.
nothing has broken me as a queer Dropout fan quite as hard as watching Vic Michaelis jump into Aabria Iyengar's arms. Jesus Christ my little sapphic heart exploded 💕
Federal court rules Arkansas law requiring Ten Commandments in classrooms is unconstitutional boingboing.net/2025/08/05/f...
If we emerge with a non-fascist society, each and every university administrator who Chamberlained or Vichied to any degree must be ruthlessly expelled from any position of responsibility or influence. Let their name be stricken from every tablet. They shouldn’t run a hot-dog stand.
I love talking to friends who say "I've never dissociated, what does it feel like?" and I explain the aspects of dissociation and they go "oh shit maybe I actually have dissociated, like a lot." Tells me we aren't explaining symptoms in actual plain language, which makes it even harder to identify.
I ran out of my favorite and discontinued facial moisturizer and now I don't know what to do with my life.
