I was indeed. Such a great place, especially this time of year
As early spring migration continues, more and more species are arriving here in upstate New York. This week's favorite is the Northern Shoveler. A stunning, well adapted member of the dabbling duck family. Until we meet again.......

Wood Duck drake. He was one of many that came by dabbling away.
Ring-necked drake. I am seeing more and more of them as migration continues.

Love that. Enjoy them!
Seeing this male Northern Cardinal waiting out the rain was a pleasant surprise on a wet, dreary day.

I was able to find the Northern Harriers this weekend. Watching them hunt is very exciting. Their abilities in flight are mind blowing to watch. This photo shows the female as she suddenly changes direction and drops into the field below.

A recent "taillights" view of a female Northern Harrier. A well engineered raptor, and very exciting to observe.

I had the absolute joy of observing this female Northern Harrier yesterday as she hunted in a local field.

I waited in the brush for for what felt like forever and finally this Wood Duck emerged from the snag where he had been preening amongst the thick branches. Breathtaking to be this close to such a beautiful drake.
