Anyone else the only household member who knows when the trash needs to go out? π€¨
Priest by Sierra Simone. Graphic scenes but with feeling/connection between the characters.
Havenβt thought of that show for years! Still remember the song, though π
How to spot a deepfake
#Canada
AI-generated videos have sprung up all over social media. Recently, a scam has been using deepfakes of CBC's David Cochrane and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

I do the same with Royal Match π€¦ββοΈ
Yes! I posted about this a week or so ago - hate seeing the disinformation from anyone.
I ordered one of those learn to crochet kits. Supposed to arrive Monday. This post scares me a little π
There are plenty of actual things happening with the US government to promote fear/frustration, so itβs discouraging to find some of the posted vial or stupid quotes/actions attributed to government players are not actually true. It only takes a minute to investigate content before sharing.
I donβt know any writers in person, unfortunately. My goal was to churn out a first draft of a new story then return to revise a different one with fresh eyes. Iβve decided to just move forward with the revision. It may be that when I do that, the ideas flow for the other story π€·ββοΈ
Stuck and super distracted, I guess. Havenβt given up, though π
Havenβt worked on it in so long I donβt think itβs actually a work βin progressβ anymore π±
Cat lying on treadmill
Worried the treadmill wouldnβt get used, but I shouldnβt haveβ¦ #cat #catsofbluesky
I definitely lean toward succinct. A lot of description tends to bore me as a reader and I start to skip lines.
Yikes π¬ I like to use them, too.
Iβm a Canadian who has lived in the US for almost 30 years. My life is here. Too young to retire and leave. I appreciate hearing how other countries are pushing back.
Which reminds me of that episode of Friends π
Ha! I had a scene where a dog died and the editor said she could barely get through it. That was the point - I wanted to think of the worst thing, most impactful thing that character could do. So I guess that was a win? I grew up reading Black Beauty and Beautiful Joe. Maybe Iβm calloused π€·ββοΈ
Read a book and then read a few reviews. One discounted it as βtrauma porn.β It was about a woman drawn into an emotionally abusive relationship. Iβm wondering if Iβve read a book that wouldnβt be considered βtrauma porn.β Fiction level conflict is often traumatic, isnβt it? #writingcommunity
Happening at my house, too π
Eating cookie dough is my riskiest behavior π
Writing a blurb has no business being so hard. Everything feels like I'm trying to channel movie trailer guy.
"In a world where the only thing between a book and a willing reader is the blurb on the back, sassywrites has to find her way through a morass of blurby cliches."

Read a blog post from an agent (2022) about how most womenβs fiction submissions donβt have high enough stakes. If the stakes are purely emotional, the story is βin trouble.β I like to read/write character driven, mostly interior stories. Is this type of story doomed? #writingcommunity
Yes, and I was very thrown off by it at first because Iβm new to this type of platform and thought someone actually wanted to connect π
There have been many through the years. Elizabeth Berg and Elizabeth Strout are two authors I admire very much - love their character driven stories.
Just finished Talk Before Sleep by Elizabeth Berg. Working now so not reading, but here is my cat chilling with his stuffed cat.
I envy people who can make themselves write creatively. I need to have a scene in mind before I sit down or I just stare. Have wondered if it would be productive to write something other than my WIP - if not inspired, do a prompt instead to build a habit?
