ultimately i want games to be games, if I want to be given a story where I have no input and nothing to do to uncover it I can watch TV or read a book.
you the player might have figured some of it out but most of it cannot be solved bc the game doesn't actually give you the info needed to solve it.
2 is that all the plot is backloaded in the last two chapters, and you don't actually uncover most of the mysteries...you uncover like 15% of it and then watch some long cut scenes at the end that explain it all.
ultimately I think there are 2 core issues. 1 is that mechanically the gameplay is really boring. It's mostly just clicking menu options over and over, very little actual thought it required from the player, it's a detective game where you are rarely required to deduce anything.
having finished emio the smiling man i think it's...not very good. there's interesting story but it's delivered badly. i think it also really suffers from being a game i played right after aai1 and 2.

listen i love ao3 as much as the next guy but ive seen people quit fic writing over the past few years because people comment and engage with authors way less, and then everyone still freaks out when ao3 goes down- if a fic is irreplaceable to u, let the author know!

the LBH & YQY relationship really has so much potential considering theyre dark parallels of each other. two guys who got trapped in a hellhole for a few years to be destroyed and remade and then came back out as the paragon of their cultivation path and also weird as fuck about shen jiu
one of the funny truths you learn if you write in the cross-genre romance space is that people who don't like the sex will hallucinate massive amounts of it in your book, and people who wanted more sex will be able to estimate an exact sex word count within like 75 words.
They'll both be mad tho.
Imo only great ace attorney and the og trilogy are in the same league. Apollo Justice trilogy is just not as good
