While there's already a lot I do at home (buttons, clay items, stickers, magnets, art prints) I still want to go the whole 9 yards and have everything I sell homemade. Especially keychains and standees, which are usually made with acrylic. I'd really like to start working with wood someday!
If we can complain about AI generated images on pillowcases and the same un-sanded 3D printed dragons littering exhibitor tables then we should be held to the same standard. This topic was partially what led to me taking a hiatus from cons, and rethinking my approach to selling merch as a whole.
ngl the more reactions I've seen from other artists about the ethics behind merch the more I agree with the people calling us out. The amount of self-entitlement I've been seeing has been really disappointing. As small artists we should be striving to be better.
