fMRI connectivity is dominated by recurring high-amplitude BOLD events (CAPs, QPPs)
But what originates these events? Many think neuromodulation is the culprit. Our new work offers a simpler take: cortico-cortical dynamics alone can generate CAP-like events! doi.org/10.1371/journal.pcbi.1013995

Ramping up cortical activity in early life sparks autism-like behaviors in mice The findings add fuel to the long-running debate over how an imbalance in excitatory and inhibitory signaling contributes to the autism.

Great coverage by @thetransmissions.bsky.social of our latest preprint: adding new evidence (and a hint of controversy 🙂) to the E/I imbalance debate in autism

Tried this on a very technical fMRI manuscript with neuroscience applications. It warned me that neuroses outside its core expertise, but then proceeded to present an amazing analysis of the claims in the paper. Vastly superior to ChatGPT for example. I am impressed!

Authors retract Science paper on controversial fMRI method Several MRI artifacts contribute to the neuronal activity signal picked up by the method, according to a preprint the authors posted this month.

Even though the controversial DIANA method didn’t pan out, neuroimaging researchers still hold out hope to one day measure neuronal activity using fMRI.

A method for capturing neuronal activity using fMRI excited the neuroimaging field but couldn’t be replicated. Today, the authors of the original paper retracted their work.

An important retraction of the DIANA paper. Scientific progress is often made by correcting prior efforts, and here the community played its part efficiently. While this particular form of mapping neural activity was unsuccessful, the search continues!
