This letter appeared in the UK Metro newspaper on 25 January 2025. Peter Packham, Chair of Leeds for Europe, is supporting calls for a public inquiry into Russian influence in British politics.
We canβt leave #Farage & #ReformUK to βinvestigateβ Russian influence in their own party!
Leeds Chair @leedsblue67.bsky.social has written to @metro.co.uk urging #Starmer to back a public inquiry.
There's a petition you can sign calling for this, too: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/74...
I agree about the phones. That is the one time I will see him perform live and I couldn't see him.
If I go to see someone perform live I expect to actually be able to see them. Had it been in a nightclub or a small intimate theatre I probably would have enjoyed it. It was not right for an arena.
Last night I wasted over Β£100 to see Bob Dylan at the Leeds Arena. He performed on an unlit black stage, I couldn't actually see him because there were no screens, there was no interaction with the audience and I don't even think it was him singing most of the time.
These two letters appeared in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner newspaper on 25 October 2025. The first suggests the description by Nigel Farage of Vladimir Putin as "a very bad dude" is inadequate - given the Russian leaders has been the cause of hundreds of thousands of dealth. The second, that the UK should consider at least joining the European Single Market to boost its economy.
π¬ Reminders from Huddersfield Daily Examiner βοΈpage:
πΉ #Farage ally at #ReformUK bribed by Putinβs Russia. βVery bad dudesβ - every one of them!
πΉ βProbably most significant thingβ do to boost UK economy? Rejoin the #EU #SingleMarket.

Thanks for coming to Leeds, I really enjoyed the evening. This is a link to an account of the Siege of al Kut 1915/16 that I mentioned to you at the book signing. The largest ever surrender by British and Empire forces.

βThis is most definitely not a fringe political scandal. It is a direct admission that Russian-aligned money penetrated Farageβs immediate orbit during a pivotal chapter in Brexit.β

What with being English @leedseurope.bsky.social canβt really comment on Scottish independence. We regard that as a matter for the Scottish people.
I would suggest that it is not up to himβ¦itβs up to us, the electorate.
That point was made to us and from @leedseurope.bsky.social point of view we want the UK to enjoy ALL the benefits of EU membership which include the Euro and Schengen.
That is true, however the political class see Putin as the major threat and would welcome the UK back as part of a United strong Europe.
Thank you, that certainly reflects the response we got in Lille.
I think you have the wrong description here, although the link is right.
Whilst Mahmood tries to outdo Braverman in her rhetoric, and Ministers spout about being a nation where free speech thrives, their utter cowardice in failing to face down racism and hate has enabled this to happen. Angry and heartbroken for this young woman.

I am full of admiration, you were absolutely superb. How you kept so calm I don't know. The real shame is that they don't want to discuss the issue based on facts, they are only interested in othering to cover their own inadequacies.
