Joyfully heading to #womensprize Live today in Bloomsbury - a garden full of amazing women & incredible books = heaven!
It looks great, doesnβt it! And I love that that theyβre doing it online and in person simultaneously. I miraculously have childcare that day, but otherwise I would also have tuned in remotely.
Just impulse-booked my ticket for this - anyone else going??
A table from above with candles, a laptop, pad and pencil, and coffee cup
Somehow today turned into the most productive writing day Iβve had in months - such a satisfying feeling π

Oh no! I wasnβt following it, but Iβll report it now!
I remember a stunning childrenβs book about it, called The Mousehole Cat - itβs going back many years, but they made a gorgeous animation of it as well.
Snap decision and ticket bought - I loved the last two years at the Womenβs Prize Live (even if this years was a bit on the chilly side!) and met such amazing book folk there each time.
Amazing books, inspirational women, a beautiful garden: what more could anyone ask for? π₯°

Oh, autumn π
Weβve had so many grey days recently, I couldnβt resist a little expedition out amongst the golds and browns and low-sun beauty π§‘
YAY so glad youβre here!! β

Iβm using it the same as Twitter - which mainly means scrolling and liking loads, starting to type a post, then spiralling into self-doubt of whether itβs funny / clever / engaging enough, then ultimately deleting it π
I used to do this in the early days of twitter so, before this place becomes feral...got any questions about children's publishing/writing? I won't have all the answers but I worked in publishing for 15 years before going full time as an author, here for all your demystification needs. #Kidlituk
Mine are carefully placed in the order in which I plan to readβ¦ until more arrive, & I forget where I wanted to startβ¦ then I add more, & canβt find the one I was looking forβ¦ but ooh yes I forgot about this oneβ¦ & then Iβm curled up reading, which was the plan all along.
A foolproof non-system π₯°
Fantastic! And extremely well deserved π€©

Life is FIRMLY in the way of writing at the moment. Itβs that kind of season.
My goal is not to let the mammoth βshouldsβ weigh me down too muchβ¦ Iβm half way through a round of structural edits on my twisty-turny psych crime novel, canβt wait until i have breathing space to get back to it π©΅
This looks incredible!
I know exactly what you mean, and I think itβs why I stayed for so long. But, sadly, I donβt think thereβs a way back for Twitter now.
Iβm hoping a new beginning here will recapture some of what was lost.
What a giveaway from the wonderful @bertsbooks.bsky.social ππ€©π
I feel like the good vibes on this platform are slowly starting to heal some of the harm done on what-Twitter-becameβ¦
So happy to rediscover the beauty of the #writingcommunity and dive into #booksky

It may be autumn, but itβs a season of new beginnings for me - so good timing to ditch the negativity of the other app, and seek a new home elsewhere.
Looking to connect with others in the #writingcommunity - even though I havenβt *quite* grasped how the algorithm works in these bluer skies β

Yes please! It would be a dream to recapture those lovely halcyon days of Twitter communities π

Another twisty crime with female friendship in the foreground, this time set in a charged & polarised political landscape, with suspected murder amidst party political skullduggery.
Just getting to know my characters, loving it as they surprise me β€οΈπ
Just realised the clocks go back while weβre at @jerichowriters.bsky.social Festival of Writing next weekend:
It will be the first time in 9 years that Iβll get to enjoy the treat of that extra hour - instead of just being woken up at the same ungodly time as always by my little person!
Bliss!! βΊοΈ

I love those moments when solutions to tricky plot points suddenly become clear - like a big lightbulb βah-haβ, and the rest of the plot stretches invitingly out in front of youβ¦
