I am very happy (and a bit scared) to present to you what we have been working on over the last 4 years. This manuscript is exactly what I dreamt of when I started the lab and I could not be happier and prouder of the outcome!
Wow! Congratulations!
A flyer displaying the same information as written in the post, with two images of two astrocytes around a blood vessel and one newly formed oligodendrocyte, along with logs our sponsors Avantor and Plasmidsaurus.
If you are attending #SfN25, please join @amygleichman.bsky.social and I on Monday at 9PM for a casual social gathering to discuss all things non-neuronal!
Date: Monday, Nov 17th
Time: 9PM till close
Location: The Smoking Gun SD, 555 Market St.
All welcome, please free to spread the word!
I am advertising for a #postdoc for a 3 year BBSRC-funded project exploring the role of macrophages in salivary gland development. The successful candidate will be based at @edinuni-irr.bsky.social at @uni-of-edinburgh.bsky.social. Closing date: 9th Oct. elxw.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/Candid...

We had fun assembling images and describing approaches for imaging oligodendrocytes and myelin in vivo, in organotypic slices, and in fixed tissues. This work started in the lab of @jgrutzendler.bsky.social over 10 years ago and continues to keep us busy.

In the brain of intertidal crustaceans (Eurydice and Parhyale), circadian clock genes are expressed with a daily rhythm (24h) in some cells and a tidal rhythm (12.4h) in other cells. Two different clocks working in the same brain, using the same components.
Mice harboring mutations in Fmr1, Cntnap2 or Shank3B show a blunted update of priors during decision-making, suggesting that distinct genetic instantiations of ASD may yield common neurophysiological and behavioral phenotypes

Hot off the press! We find changes in oligodendrocytes that lack FMRP! An excellent collaboration supported by @sidb-edinburgh.bsky.social .
How many people read the first anonymous view and think oh this must be one of my colleagues? It all sounds horribly familiar...
Our new pipeline is out! We present an ex vivo versatile platform for assessing myelin dynamics of hiPSC oligodendroglia. 🔗 Check it out @STARProtocols: doi.org/10.1016/j.xp...

An exciting day in autism epidemiology - numbers are out from the 2021 GBD study. Who's "disease" framing and associated language aside, this is a big effing deal for understanding the prevalence and impact of autism across the globe, especially in LMICs!
Overall prevalence was 0.79% (0.66-0.93)
New paper out from the lab! Led by @gdfnunes.bsky.social and Lindsay Osso in collaboration with the lab of Dan Denman. Check it out! 🔬 🐭 🧠
