Reviewed several ICLR submissions, and I am wondering about the trend: some papers were far outside my area (cost me hours of background reading per review), and others felt low quality. Either the assignment system is random, or the overall bar is going downhill.

I've previously reviewed venues like Neurips and ICLR and my Openreview profile is complete, so I'm wondering if there are differences in the eligibility criteria for ACL.

I'm looking for clarification regarding our submission. The editor mentioned that our volunteer reviewer might not meet the qualification requirements.

At the same time, ARR does not recognize reviewers/authors from other communities. Our paper is at risk of desk rejection because the suggested reviewers did not have publications at ACL conferences 🥲
