I keep saying this, but Gen Z Nihilism is quickly becoming something much darker. They have moved from believing in nothing to believing in nothing but power.
We didn't defend values like justice and Democracy. Now we're here.

"WASTED"
There's a moral vacuum at the heart of this administration.
I'm not talking about the girls' school. The White House posting "WASTED" over a photo of the killing of combatants reflects an utter lack of humanity.
This is who we are, because we voted for these ghoulish, cruel bullies.
The red "wasted" visual in the White House video game graphic is just beyond vile. This involves real human beings. They know civilians are being killed. They're reveling in it.
What MAGA sees vs. what the rest of the world sees
And an infinitely more intelligent commentary. bsky.app/profile/greg...
MAGA is whatever Trump says it is. The amount of contempt these people have for Trump voters far outpaces the invented contempt that "liberal elites" are supposed to have for them.
The people leading this war are insane. Human life means nothing to them. π
The straight line that connects what you are saying with this disturbing data

This appalling White House video game imagery on Iran illustrates what @teotten1.bsky.social and I discuss on today's pod: The role of fantasy, unreality and sadism-as-entertainment in MAGA politics.

Memo to Caliban (βLet me lick thy shoeβ) Leavitt, who βis suggesting that the media is covering U.S. deaths to make Trump look badβ:
βEveryone, when there's war in the air, learns to live in a new element: falsehood.β
βTiger at the Gates,β by Jean Giraudoux
Excellent conversation with @teotten1.bsky.social and @gregsargent.bsky.social about the presidentβs shitshow war of choice in Iran, the desperate attempt to spin it by Karoline Leavitt, and how congressional Rs are running for cover to avoid being associated with it.
Trump's Iran quagmire is getting worse. Striking pattern:
*Leavitt/Hegseth berating media for making Trump "look bad"
*Rs privately say they don't want ownership of Iran attack
*GOP avoiding using word "war"
On the pod @teotten1.bsky.social and I dig into all of it:

What are the odds that the administration blames this "target misidentification" on AI?
Glad weβre not practicing woke rules of engagement anymore like not murdering children.
"target misidentification"
Epic Fury.
Excellent NYT video analysis finds that the bombing of scores of schoolchildren in Iran came amid other US strikes in the vicinity:

We can't let up and miss another chance to stop Miller, or we'll regret it for the rest of our lives.
Noem got canned because Congressional Dems were turning her into embarrassing television day after day. They have yet to even try with Miller, but they should!
Joel is right. Michael Anton's characterization of @lkatfield.bsky.social's book is ludicrous throughout. Of course, for Anton, the mere fact that Field substantively rejects the MAGA right's worldview (after careful consideration) is itself unacceptable, since after all it's an authoritarian one.
π― β Noem's ouster means that Miller successfully pinned her to take the fall
Can't wait to see all the takes about how Trump has finally realized the gravity of the job and is now pivoting to a kinder, gentler Trump.
Major shake-up in the Trump administration: With the ouster of Noem, some are saying Trump is signaling a new tone going forward.
One down
THIS π―βΌοΈ
Good news that the execrable Kristi Noem has been fired, but Trump should really be firing Stephen Miller, the primary engineer of the vile ethnic reengineering agenda and murderously violent civic tensions that are sucking all of them into a bottomless political sinkhole, Trump included.
"(James Talarco's) message of faith, speaking to the compassion and integrity of our state and speaking with moral clarity about who Trump is and what he represents-I think that does resonate in the Latino community."
Electing Progressive Christians is necessary to end MAGA evangelical hypocrisy.
"Vance now spends every day of his life agitating for a society that sees the people he loves most in the world as undesirable foreigners who should be forcibly deported."
Great @bernybelvedere.bsky.social piece urging us to see Vance as a genuine ideologue:

@mikemadrid.bsky.social is great! He's been on the pod and I quoted him extensively in my piece on what happened with the Latino vote in Reading, PA
Very interesting stuff here.
