I think the focus should always be on the PL. The CL is purely a financial sideshow because we don’t have the squad to actually win it. At times the players have really struggled to get motivated for anything other than those CL games under the lights.
That window for sure set them back 2/3 years.
I agree that recruitment has been poor. That summer window was a disaster.

His reputation is built on being a superb coach and man manager. He’s always concerned about player welfare etc. Which is why players like to play for him I guess. It’s also his biggest weakness tho as (like you say) he struggles to cut declining players loose quickly enough.
I think a lot of it will come down to that disaster transfer window and who PIF blame for it. If Howe was front and centre on the Wissa, Woltemade & Elanga deals then he could be in trouble. I hope he gets time but this is football.
