In a week of shamanic performances, last week Betty Grumble's deeply moving work at one of the cornerstone Mardi Gras 2026 afterparties, ended with this statement:

"THE IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT THE COMING REVOLUTIONS IS THAT WE WILL GET OUR ASSES KICKED, BUT WE WILL WIN!" - Betty Grumble

Front cover of the program for Simone Young Conducts Britten and Vaughan Williams with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra showing Simone Young in all her wizardly brilliance. The program features Sun Music III by Peter Sculthorpe, Britten's Violin Concerto Op. 15 (1938-1939), and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Symphony in E minor (1944-1947). The photo is taken from behind her right shoulder, showing her in profile, with you the viewer looking facing the second violins. You see and hear the world through her eyes and her ears. She is telling us to listen, our shamanic guide, tolling the bells for the end of our fragile peace and asking us to heed the oncoming war.

Saw the shamanic Simone Young tonight curating for us Britten's Violin Concerto (1938-1939) and Vaughan Williams's Symphony in E minor (1944-1947), with Simone Lamsma playing the concerto on her Aurora ex-Foulis Stradivarius.

Poignant and profound, a funereal song for the end of our fragile peace.

Upon reflection on the absurdity of overflowing septic systems on Ford, and the callous loss of life of the dozens of musicians aboard the unarmed Dena, it occurs to me that the Emperor has no clothes and that the United States is woefully underprepared for sustained full force conflict of any kind.

Absolutely heinous to use a peacemaking mission organised by an ally (India) to sink an unarmed ship, AND not save any of the surviving sailors.

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countriesβ€”including the United States.

This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

I don't know if the coral reefs will ever come back over the timescale of 200 years but what I'm fighting for is for our great grandchildren to have a habitable Earth, one where there are no wars fought over water / food / energy but rather life is returning to peace, prosperity & democracy.

This reminds me that the flight against climate change is largely to save human populations not nature.

Climate catastrophe is a disaster for democracy, for human health & our way of life. It makes us 30% poorer every 25 years.

Nature will suffer but will potentially stabilise over many centuries.

The White House’s disjointed message on Ukraine - London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com Explore The White House’s disjointed message on Ukraine, highlighting key moments from the Trump administration's approach.

β€œWhen an administration publicly questions the value of supporting a partner under invasion, only to later seek that partner’s expertise, it exposes a deeper problem: the widening gap between political rhetoric and strategic reality.”

I am educating my brother about Hoopla and Libby. He wanted me to help him buy him an audiobook on Spotify and I said, "But, WAIT! Do you have a library card? Cause, that audiobook you want to listen to? The library has the whole series! For freeeeeee!!!"

Apollo with the dodgeball of prophecy

Years ago in another life I gave a guest lecture at The Hague warning β€œAI weapons” could be invoked to remove accountability for war crimes from the chain of command. I said β€œthere are no autonomous weapons, only unsupervised ones,” and sadly it seems I was cooking with that one

Southern California air board rejected pollution rules after AI-generated flood of comments The opposition appeared overwhelming: Tens of thousands of emails poured into Southern California's top air pollution authority as its board weighed a June proposal to phase out gas-powered appliances...

They were going to pass rules to phase out gas stoves, until they received 20,000 public comments against the regulations. Except, oops, it turns out the comments were generated by AI.

The hard road back from overshoot - Nature Climate Change As global temperatures move beyond 1.5 °C, overshoot now defines the landscape ahead, sharpening legal claims, exposing economic risks and revealing how far politics still trail the pace of change.

The idea that we can β€œovershoot now, fix later” is simplistic.

Overshoot relies on massive CDR, but temporary warming can trigger tipping points and long-lived changes: ice sheet loss, permafrost thaw, ecosystem shifts.

Cooling later doesn’t guarantee reversal.

Developing nations leapfrogging fossil energy systems and going straight to new, now-affordable clean technologies is one of the more hopeful energy stories of the coming decade. Parallels to leapfrogging landlines and going straight to cell phones.

Remembrance is not a violation.

Vladyslav Heraskevych will be remembered as a hero while the IOC will be remembered, again, as pathetic cowards.

Slava Ukraini.
