#BlackGuillemots are widely distributed #seabirds, nesting under rocks along coastlines, which makes surveying an entire population challenging.

This project is a great example of #CommunityBasedMonitoring that will support the assessment of #guillemot populations in the UK!

Really interesting #PhD opportunity combining #LocalEcologicalKnowledge and #science to better understand changes in #seabird distributions over time in the context of #InvasiveSpecies.

New research introduces “overlap intensity”, a metric that goes beyond area shared by #seabirds and #fishing vessels to include how many #birds are affected, showing stronger competition for prey than overlap metrics alone.
