Really pleased to have kept the promise I made during our workshop at EFIC (@maitevdm.bsky.social, @head-like-egg.bsky.social), and our work on the stability of pain habituation/sensitisation, and the underlying neural mechanisms. A long way to go, and a deep field of study. #psychology #pain #efic
Have you undergone a gynaecological procedure, or know people who have? @tiger-uk.bsky.social want to hear from the patient voice.
Can you complete this brief 5-10min survey, and help circulate in your own channels too? Share far and wide! We need patient voices.

Thank you to all you participated in this year's edition of Reading Emotions #ReadEmo25.
@wiebkegandhi.bsky.social and @richharrison.bsky.social will be chairing #ReadEmo26 on pain! Watch this space, and see you next year!

Am really excited for this event! In fact, going to scout out the beautiful London Road campus this morning in anticipation. @ameliahollywood.bsky.social
Pint of Science is coming to Reading! π§
Join us on the 19th, 20th, & 21st May at Park House (our local pub!) for an exciting series of science evenings.

Thanks @head-like-egg.bsky.social, was very fortunate to have such a great team alongside.
Welcome to Bluesky SPCLS @unirdg-psych.bsky.social
Glad to have you onboard. #psychology
Once again, another lovely bit of news coming out of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. I can confirm, they are overall, a generally lovely bunch of highly professional carers. Very pleased to know them #RBFT #NHS

Fantastic news, and well-earned acknowledgement of the quality of their clinical research output these days. @ameliahollywood.bsky.social

Trying to tackle the emergence of long, passive waitlists for pain management. We've been working on some strategies to change this. Open access, please have a read if interested!

Well and truly collapsing across the finish line this year. Goodness me that was one hell of a semester. Wishing everyone a restful and regenerative Christmas break and happy new year.
Very interesting work on the power of expectation in pain management: Treating human beings, not isolated mechanisms.

Tremendous campaign that I've very happily been a part of in the past. Fully deserving of their nomination and the knowledge that this is simply another big step in a powerful journey.
I'd be curious to know, within a framework of fear-avoidance, can we identify patients who have genuine mechanical reasons to be cautious/protective of movement and those who don't? We could stratify to psychological vs physiological approaches based on this distinction perhaps?
I agree. I've encountered lots of clinicians in the NHS who feel unable to "open that box". We must ensure our patients have the support available to manage the implications of their trauma, but whether we should be 'ostriching' and not asking in the first place remains a pertinent question, I think
What a great paper, that was really helpful, thank you for sharing
Some of us in the ADVANTAGE visceral pain consortium (@denklab.bsky.social + others not on π¦ yet) recently got together to talk about all thinks visceral pain courtesy of @rpseal.bsky.social who runs The Pain Beat podcast π #neuroskyence #PainResearch

That'd be great Ted, if I could be added? Thank you
Our Topical Review in PAIN on body image, sex, gender and pain is now published. Have a read to see how we think these ideas may be linked, and let us know what you think.

Thank you @asafklaf.bsky.social, I will
Thanks Siri! Has been an eye-opening (and rather sobering) education for me..
Appreciate the Bluesky tips too! Got a lot of learn there as well. Hope you're well
Happy to be off Twitter, and hope Bluesky resists the same decline..
Taking the opportunity to share my PhD student, Lydia Tidmarsh's, recent review on the devastating 'iceberg' of childhood trauma in chronic pain.
