This, I didn't mind.
Hands down, Collette's worst performance. The whole affair tries too hard, delivers so little. Hard to believe it's from the same director as the exceptional Snowpiercer.

The structure is a mess; the characters act bewilderingly; Ralph Fiennes is (as always) wooden beyond comprehension; and the ending is an embarrassment, simultaneously saved and worsened by its brevity.
The first film in this property is an unapologetic classic; this is a plastic mess.
A shameful, lopsided mess that doesn't deserve the pedigree it sprang from. 4/10
