I don't think 50% will be reached anytime soon, but less than 30% is for me nothing to celebrate.
It is still quite low if you compare it to the number of female PhD students. Career opportunities in science in Germany are unfortunately still far away from equal (written as a research group leader at Helmholtz, where the numbers are similar or even a bit worse).

"Framing people who leave as not committed enough is incredibly convenient for the system. It puts the blame on individuals and keeps attention away from the actual problems: underpaid postdocs, broken publication incentives, grant treadmills." #IchBinHanna

Ich hoffe, das braucht ein bisschen länger. 60 m Meeresspiegel-Anstieg wäre wirklich nicht wünschenswert...

Sunday and the weather is nice, so we made a trip to the "Hockendes Weib" rock formation near Ibbenbüren. 135 million years ago this would have been a trip to the beach.

Flat white slab of gypsum showing layers of grey that has different levels of deformation, some layers very squiggly. There’s an uneven fault through the middle. It sits on a black background. At the Canadian Museum of Nature.
I’m obsessed with this slab of gypsum!! Look at all the squiggly folds and faulting showing the deformation of the evaporite!! #FridayFold #FaultFriday ⚒️🧪
Women are important for science and science needs more women.
Women play a vital role in science. A powerful reminder from mRNA researcher and Nobel Prize winner Prof. Katalin Karikó on why science needs more women!
Die Welt der kleinsten Teilchen: Schülerinnen und Schüler ab 15 Jahren erhalten am 6. März am Institut für Kernphysik der Universität Münster bei einer International Masterclass Einblicke in die Forschung zu den Anfängen des Universums.
Next week is the #RSCPoster event over at LinkedIn. Although I would love to have it here (the event started on Twitter originally), I am really looking forward to engange with new people and learn about new research. Also, I'll present a poster, complementing our new preprint. See you?!

In Münsterland, Vatertag is not so common but on May first you see Bollerwagen everywhere.
In Germnany, we have a holiday for attempting that. It's called "Day of Work" (Tag der Arbeit on May, 1st). You load a handcart with beer, a grill and sausages (yes, we are German) and walk the whole day drinking and listenting to music. At least when I was younger, we planned 20 beers per person 😁
We even have one or two holidays where we attempt exactly this (only with BBQ, not with tacos), at least in Münsterland. It's called "Tag der Arbeit" and "Vatertag/Christi Himmelfahrt". The Bollerwagen sometimes even are motorized 😁
Mir henn a enges Rennen 😮

I wasn't aware of this 🤔. In Germany, thankfully, it doesn't play a role in which state you earn money. The information goes all to the financial department of the district you live in and there are no further headaches.
Benefits of the EU, nothing to worry about for me in case of Luxemburg 😄
