Feb. 8, 1968 | State Troopers Kill Three Black Students in Orangeburg, South Carolina Learn more about our history of racial injustice.

On this day in 1968, white state troopers fired into a mostly African American crowd on the campus of South Carolina State College, a historically Black college in Orangeburg, and killed three young Black men.

I didn't know how much I needed this show until I saw it. I'm going to have my youngest nephew watch it with me today.

How fitting that this happened at Morrill Hall, named after the 1862 act giving stolen Native American land to land grant universities like UMinn to promote settler colonialist agriculture and its extractive practices.

Investigation continues over massive oil rig toppling on North Slope as Nuiqsut residents raise concerns The Department of Environmental Conservation said it has been unable to get close to the wreckage, due to worries that metal from Rig 26 might fall on response team members.

One of the largest oil drilling rigs in the U.S. (nicknamed “the beast”) crashed to the ground half a mile from an Alaska Native village. The Village of Nuiqsut is concerned that warming temperatures and shifting ice might have caused the fall.
