We propose a new Species Deviation Index (SDev) that captures both losses and gains of native species offering a clearer picture of riverine fish community change.
Sites with high deviation often align with human pressure points:
Rivers in Baden-Württemberg have seen a ~64% decline in #native #fish species richness compared to historical references.
