CRIMES
:(
As promised, the blog. tl;dr - I'm hard at work on Piece of Work, and there's that Blades '68 thing. The rest, I'm putting on hold for now.
I haven't played a Syberia game since the original but remember being enchanted with it a while ago. Kinda amazing they're still making them!
Funding goal for Blades '68, for my contribution, a conspiracy theory leaflet.
Eee! I am delighted to share some half-baked ravings. Arguably it's what I do best.
If that's your sort of project, go back it. :) There's a LOT of cool names on the list.

Piece of Work! It's a cybernoir RPG I'm working on!
Hey, so this is quality work and worth your eyeballs. If you haven't heard of it yet (which seems impossible), take a look!
A screenshot from an InDesign layout of one "playbook" (AKA Perspective) from Piece of Work. The Perspective is for the Anarchist. Under the title it has the tag line "I became a criminal because FUCK YOU. THAT'S WHY." It reads: "Play the Anarchist if you want to fight the power head-on, with reckless and breathtaking abandon. Will the fires of destruction pave a way for a better future? Advantage No Questions Asked You always have a line on stolen and illegal goods. You can always find someone who will sell you what you need. Motive To liberate the masses People A fence you can sell stolen goods to An admirer Someone whoβs in over their head Someone who will take you in for a little while A revolutionary who disagrees with you" Above these mechanics is story text: "They call you broken, you know. Not that anyone around these parts is going to mind, but the way you act, the way you donβt seem to care about what other people think... That takes guts, Iβll give you that. Try giving that speech to one of those System cops and theyβll cart you away so fast your head will spin. Anyway, whatβs the point of razzing some corporate goon? Small fries. I wouldnβt dream of telling you your business, but if it were me, Iβd be thinking of something bigger than two stooges on a corner and a can of spray paint in your pocket. What you want is to bring the whole thing down, shake the system to its core. You figure how, youβll be set." To the left is a crouched woman, in blue tones, looking to the right at a ring light in red hues. She looks disaffected, and entirely done with your bullshit.
I'll be updating the blog soon with more details but here's a slice:
I tend to bury my head in the sand during the winter months so I think I missed this release, but I have since fixed that. Looking forward to crafting some poetry.
This rocks and was the perfect addition to my day. :)
Every day. Thankfully I live in a landlocked state π
Motivation strugglebus today. Trying to motivate myself but don't have enough motivation to even go to the motivation store and get more motivation.
A spread from the super-secret draft layout of Piece of Work. This is the chapter spread for the Systems chapter. There is a fiction passage to go with the chapter title. It reads as follows: "I had a lead. That last job we did, I didnβt just get the accounting information the client wanted, I also got into PanaShibaβs email systems. I needed to track down who knew about the production shortages we were going through when I worked there. Thatβs the rat that cost me everything. And now I had a lead. The only problem was, I knew them. Alexandre Oliveira. We used to fight together in the war. Even saved my life once. Thereβs no way they pull the trigger on the division. I had more questions than answers. Are they being set up? Did they betray us? Whoβs really calling the shots?" The layout is very nice and you should say nice things.
So uh.
I may have accidentally gotten hyperfocused on layout out Piece of Work.
I'm not sorry.
There's a deep irony there, and I love it π
Going through the new security trainings at work, and with a straight face they suggested that protecting myself against generative AI, I should establish secret code words with my friends so I can check when they send me weird messages if it's really them.
We're cooked fam. Absolutely cooked.
Cozy, working on games, doing writing sprints with @nicolejleboeuf.bsky.social, Holland at the corner of the table, a wintery fire in the background. Life isn't perfect, but this moment is.
Today in ADHD adventures: I have been trying to order a belt online for about 2 hours now.
Public service announcement: drink more water.
In retrospect, getting a flu vaccine and a COVID booster on the same day was quite ambitious.
Gentle reminder to myself that forward is forward, even when it feels like it's barely an inch.
Sneakers.
Happy Halloween!
A photo of a dojo with a sign in green letters above the window saying Martial Arts. The M in the sign is burned out, leaving only "artial Arts".
My brain filled this in as Partial Arts and on reflection I think it was right.
The rabbit Holland, laying on his side sleeping between the legs of our piano.
For the Internet's enjoyment, a sleepy Holland
Been struggling with back issues this week and I've never been more keenly aware of how much my mobility means. Looking down the barrel of my age and it's not a good sight.
Sounds like an expansion set is possible :P
It is with some trepidation that I begin again, after being derailed for a month. Dogged and relentless.
Holland, studiously sitting in the chair and looking at me, since all we do is work now.
The day job has been exhausting me entirely lately. I would love to post updates but here is some recovery bunny instead.
Holland the Rabbit is perched on the top part of my couch, looking out at the world, anticipating what may come next.
I too am looking up and beyond, Holland. What do you sense on the wind, my friend?
Honestly, making screenshots like this is half the reason I do this stuff. π
