Happy Day of Women and Girls in Science!
🧪 Science is also about how we work together. A new paper shows how young PIs turned everyday lab needs into an open, shared handbook for positive lab culture.
elifesciences.org/articles/108... Proud to see Letizia Mariotti and @erikadona.bsky.social among the authors.

Excited to share our new #biorxivpreprint:
“Sexual dimorphism in the complete connectome of the Drosophila male central nervous system” www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
We describe the #connectomics reconstruction and analysis of an entire adult #maleCNS #drosophila central nervous system. 1/10
Congratulations!
Thanks to all authors and support from #MRC_LMB, @neurohub-cnr, @camzoology, #flyconnectome, @wellcometrust, @erc.europa.eu, @astra-zeneca and @cruk-ci. FIN
Amazingly, we found a common transcription factor code across all lineages. Each neuron selects a stable subset of 17 shared TFs based on birth order. This defines a transcriptional ‘timestamp’ that persists into adulthood. The same code is used in the central brain. 6/8
Thank you @kaniacz.bsky.social for making such good quality libraries for us! It has been great to coordinate work with you!

We integrated our atlas with the connectome using shared features, such as lineage, segment, molecular info (i.e. neurotransmitter, Notch) and neurogenesis timing. We mapped 122 transcriptional pools, each one containing an average of 26 anatomically defined neuron types. 4/8
