Why watch one Carnival of Blood when you can watch TWO? Both 1st time watches for me, both incredible. Early 70s surreal, inexplicable, dream-logic, DIY regional insanity, both. AGFA & @arrowvideo.bsky.social to the rescue! Highly recommend both!

Amen to that!!

Trio of incredible 1st time watches over the weekend: The Incredibly Strange Creatures… (1964) swinging LSD horror musical directed by a crazy person; Performance (1970) Mick Jagger-led psychedelic crime thriller; Krakatit (1948) surrealist Czech atomic nightmare fugue (Oppenheimer by way of Suzuki)
You know you’re in the right relationship when your girlfriend texts you this first thing in the morning as soon as she gets to work.
A hell of a VDay triple: 80s microbudget Ft Worth-lensed Through The Fire, Gena Rowlands’ primal scream Woman Under The Influence, and finally SOV icon Tina Krause’s Limbo, a VHS-shot 90s Lynchian nightmare fugue. All 3 films about powerful women navigating the impossible. Really wonderful cinema.
We at @antennareleasing.bsky.social are on the hunt for PR teams to help us with some of our releases. We're looking at a max spend of $5K per title (preferably lower). Our internal PR is already pretty robust, but need additional PR support. If you know of a person/company, tag them! #filmsky
7 years ago today someone tweeted me this, and it remains one of my favorite reviews. Still a lunatic, I’m proud to say!
Incredible double today: SYMBIOPSYCHOTAXIPLASM (1968), a docu-social experiment thats way more sinister than it lets on, & TWISTED ISSUES (1988), SOV punk docu-fuguestate of splatter dream logic. Both push the boundaries of what film can be and how it can bleed into reality, in very different ways.
170 shades. Nearly 400 faves. No new reviews. Come on critics; I believe in you!
I’m writing something totally insane and wildly personal, and I had to note the triple that I watched today as inspiration
First: SOV psychotic SCARY TALES (1993), then surreal slasher freakout HANGING HEART (1989), ending with primal scream THE OTHER SIDE OF UNDERNEATH (1972)
Consider me inspired
Hey everyone! My girlfriend’s horse ranch needs help during the ice storm! They’re asking people to buy horse feed that they can then go pick up. If you’re able to help, a bag is $30 and you can follow the instructions in the pics. Goes directly to help the horses! If you can help, please do!
The White House circulates a faked video to make a distinguished attorney, who in reality was somber and self-possessed, look hysterical and unkempt. Our White House is now the source of contemptible lies, no different from Nazi propaganda.
Anita Chabria is spot on.

My god
This one was SO MUCH FUN. A constantly shifting and consistently fun filmography, and two amazing competitive collaborators. Lots of twists and turns here…just like a Brad Anderson movie!

@grahamskipper.bsky.social My brother gave me this for Christmas and I'm so excited to watch Re-Animator in 4K for the first time tonight, and then follow it up with The Evolution of Horror episode. A duet of pleasures!
Love it!
(Aliens isn’t as purely scary as Alien is is what I meant to say, but you get my point)
And while ED isn’t as objectively good as either of those movies, it melds the two tones (scary and balls-to-the-wall fun) pretty seamlessly. I can’t think of another space horror film to achieve the same on that level. It’s a blast and it’ll make you jump AND it’ll gross you out! That’s a 5 ⭐️ film
I mean the thing about Event Horizon is that a) it IS genuinely scary with some truly haunting stuff, but b) it presents that horror in a FUN WAY. As much of a masterpiece as Alien is, it’s not “fun,” at least not in the way Aliens is. Aliens, otoh, isn’t as purely scary as Event Horizon is. (1/2)
I’m still recovering from this experience. I respect @williambibbiani.bsky.social but the man is objectively incorrect about Event Horizon. #IStandWithJordan #LiberateTuteMeExInferis
We are recording the BRAD ANDERSON SUPER DRAFT with Legends Darren Franich, @grahamskipper.bsky.social, & @oriananudo.bsky.social SOON!
Which films directed by the SESSION 9 journeyman NEED to make it high on the list?!
Took a break from @screendrafts.bsky.social Brad Anderson prep to watch 964 PINNOCHIO and OH MY GOD.

About to get a root canal. They said it would take around 2 hours, and to bring headphones. Looks like I’m finally gonna make a dent into this @screendrafts.bsky.social Paul WS Anderson draft! @claykeller.bsky.social @jorcru.bsky.social @williambibbiani.bsky.social @daveschilling.bsky.social
What does it say about me that the only two Bond films I own and regularly rewatch are Thunderball and Moonraker? Surely there’s a psych analysis in there, right? @philnobilejr.bsky.social?
Love them all! They’re all my strange little children
