My daughters and I joke about how TimothΓ©e can't act. However. His character's hatred for his mother until he learns she used to be an "escort," in A Rainy Day in New York, was believable. Now we know why...
Wow. I just read the wiki, and although it sounds like a crazy plot, it's also an accurate newsreel of our times.
Plus Γ§a change...
A screenshot from a weather website that says 140Β° and LIKE 140Β° The forecast high is 77Β° and the low is 57Β°
It was cold this morning when I woke up.
I checked the weather website and... um...
My daughter has some homework through a music literacy app. Her friend joined the class late & this "cycle" is full, so he can't access the weekly work. The prof told him to wait 'til the next cycle, then makeup all the homework he's missed!
I was shocked.
"That's what school is now mom," she said.
I came here to say this. It shows the level of "respect" they have for her.
Top-ish view close-crop of a brownie with peanut butter swirl, on a yellow plate.
Speaking of peanut butter...
My daughter made peanut butter brownies tonight.

Exeunt would be better for us all.
Exeunt.
I wish.
Don't ask that question if you don't want the answer.

I'm disappointed Crockett lost. I hate when white people say, "Texas/America is too racist & sexist to elect a Black woman." Do you think we'll get less racist & sexist if we keep using that as an excuse?
And I know it's a me problem, but I get a really bad vibe from Talarico. Oh well.
Thanks, Roadie. My daughter is good at holding her phone up to her binoculars to get the photo. I find it quite tricky!
I do PB (or tahini, if I have it), soy, ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, some kind of hot sauce, and a dash of honey or syrup for sesame noodles. In fact, I should make that tonight! ππ

Desert grasses, hills, trees, including a tree in the middle ground with an acorn woodpecker sitting at the top (bird not really be visible in the photo unless you superzoom). Blue sky, sunshiny day.
Phone photo through binoculars, taken by my daughter, of the top of the tree with the acorn woodpecker at the center top.
We went for a hike yesterday and saw a lifer for us: three acorn woodpeckers.

No scoffing here: I used to make peanut butter, pickle, mustard, and mustard greens or arugula sandwiches back in my youth! And my daughter made ramen last night and I thought "a spoonful of peanut butter would be good in here" I was too lazy to do it though. Next time!
My daughter has made shortbread a few times recently--making the log and then slicing circles to bake. I think vanilla or almond flavored shortbread circles would make excellent sandwich cookies with your jam.
Ha! I haven't bought peanut butter in years, but recently did because we got some celery from the foodbank. Will give apples a try.
Ah! Thanks!
Disagree about the celery, but after just recently enjoying banana + peanut butter despite the difficulty spreading the peanut butter on the banana, I'm curious: do you put peanut butter on apple slices, or just bite an apple and eat spoonfuls of peanut butter? Or?
Thank you for not including the photo--I've been "hiding" posts all day.
"Do you trust me?"
Maybe an "if you like that, you should try this" segment. People who know basic bleu, where should their next step be? Beyond brie, etc. My daughter loves "the square cheese" (it comes in a box) from Trader Joe's. It has a limited seasonal run. We shopped around and found another one like it.
Oof. "Journamalism." It's like they're still writing last week's Olympic-hopeful features.
I'm alive! I'm alive!
A four panel diary comic by me. Panel 1) I'm standing at a kitchen island, cutting and distributing peaches and bananas into bowls. The text reads: "This morning we had peaches and bananas for breakfast." Panel 2) Me as a child, excitedly sitting down to the table where bowls of peaches and bananas have been served. I exclaim, "Yay! Peaches and nannies!" The text reads: "As a kid, peaches and bananas were a special treat. I haven't heard of anyone else who has this *dish.*" Panel 3) I'm talking with my mother who has dementia. The text reads: "I recently tried to ask my mom about it." I ask, "Who started peaches and bananas? Was it your dad?" She crabbily responds, "I have no idea what you're talking about." Panel 4) My mom is in the foreground. I'm in the background behind her. The text reads, "Later I heard her talking to herself..." She says to herself, "...peaches and nannies..."
Starting in the pandemic, and continuing for several years, I made daily diary comics. When life for me personally and for all of us nationally, turned horrible in late 2024/early2025, I stopped making them. Here's one from when I lived with my mom as dementia was taking hold of her.

No matter how many sacrifices may have been made, theyβre always quite sure Black people can give up a little bit more.
If The Shining was made today, my daughters' worst jumpscare in the film--a racial slur repeated three times--would (hopefully) not be in the movie.
Yes. Like hot fudge sundaes. And whipped cream on cocoa.
With fries, there's not just the temperature difference with the cold sauce. There's texture. A cold fry is gross.
Whoa. I got an invite this week to a birthday party for someone I haven't spoken to in several years, and I know their birthday is in July. I haven't opened the email yet. I wonder if it's spam too. I had no idea this was a possible thing. Thanks for the heads up.
Have fun at your actual party!
