A screenshot of the new AI search function that’s appeared on Facebook recently, with two questions: how does peanut butter impact relationships; how does peanut butter affect daily life?
Got to confess I’m not convinced by facebook’s new AI search function.
But also, how does peanut butter impact relationships? Not something we considered before we got married.

Great stuff, well done!! We (in central London) have a deal with our local council that we can close off the road for a time around drop off and pick up. It definitely helps, but it isn’t perfect: there are obviously strict rules about staffing it; bikes still come roaring through. It’s hard.

Quick update on this, @acaseforbooks.bsky.social - can confirm that my in laws took my niece shopping today, and she’s bought the entire rest of the Pages and Co series… I think you’ve got a fan! X

Mariesa this looks stunning. A friend of mine wrote her masters dissertation about how the negative portrayal of sharks in film and lit has impacted efforts to conserve their habitats and populations. This is fab.

Threw a pen across my desk in frustration. It hit my keyboard and has chipped off the F key - a key that I get quite a lot of use out of, obviously.
As my father would say at this point, “that’ll learn ya.”

I tasked my year 7 class with responding to an Agony Aunt letter, from Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. They have excelled themselves with their relationship advice.
Here follows some of the best…

Today I unironically managed to get the words “Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew,” into a lesson.

We love The Last Wild. Piers Torday came to visit us last year - highly recommend, he’s great.

One incredibly tired but proud Head of English. Book Week has been a triumph. The children really impressed in our poetry competition today.
Fancy dress to come tomorrow!
Time for a coffee while I look at my emails for the first time in three days 😬
Also pictured behind me: Hatchards book haul!

Meanwhile, my husband reckons he’s said the words “Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return” at least 200 times today across all their services.
Super proud of him: he was part of a service in Westminster Abbey today, which he says was especially powerful on Ash Wednesday.

A school hall set up for a book fair: there are book shelves and tables with lots of children’s books on display.
And of course no Book Week would be complete without a visit from the Hatchards Piccadilly book fair. What a treat to get to explore so many beautiful books, all guided by their expert children’s booksellers! They are so knowledgeable and brilliant at making recommendations. Thank you.

The front cover of the book Wiggling Words, by Kate Rolfe. It’s reddish-pink in colour, and features an image of a child collapsed on a mountain made of different letters of the alphabet. They’re trying to read a book.
We had a great visit from writer and illustrator Kate Rolfe yesterday, who came in to visit the smallest members of our school. Wiggling Words is a fab little book about having fun with letter shapes - amazing for young readers who find that the words just won’t sit still on the page!

A particularly lovely visit from author Anna James @acaseforbooks.bsky.social yesterday! We LOVED exploring Whetherwhy with you. You’re so engaging with the children, and they’ve been buzzing ever since.
I also bought a copy of Tilly and the Bookwanderers for my niece, who will love it!

Our Y3 and Y4 children had a lovely time with author @mrsnicolabaker.bsky.social today. We’re so excited by your books - what a great way to learn more about life in the countryside. Thank you so much for enthusing our children and getting them talking about reading!

A screenshot of the notes page on an iPhone, with the words “if you want to know what a story is, it’s about a character who wants something. Your job as a writer is to make it as hard as possible for them to get.”
A line from Chris Vick today!
I think your message about the building blocks of storytelling and what a story actually is really struck a chord with some of our older ones too. They get so bogged down in the detail that they often forget to just tell the story. Thank you.
PS - I’m borrowing this line from you!

Thank you so much @chrisvickwrites.bsky.social for visiting us in Knightsbridge today. Our kids were really excited by Shadow Creatures - we’ve got a moderate obsession with historical fiction as a school.

One of my year 10s called me Ozymandias as an insult this morning when I made him help me to prep some resources.
I’m loving that the lesson on the poem yesterday has clearly sunk in…!

A copy of the book Towards the End of the Morning, by Michael Frayn. The book cover has a black and white picture of some men working in an office, in about the 1960s, with the author’s name in pale blue.
This is comedy gold. I’ve always liked Michael Frayn - Noises Off is one of my all-time favourite plays, and this is exactly the same sense of humour. It’s been a while since I’ve actually laughed out loud at a book!
