There are so many new amazing books from Indigenous authors about the relationship of Indigenous women and their families. This is such a huge part of what we can do as educators to support this learning and understanding for the younger grades. Update www.carolynroberts.net/single-post/...
Thinking about how and what we assess is an important way to engage students in their learning. Here is my blog post about my thoughts about assessment and how we can do this work in relationship. www.carolynroberts.net/single-post/...

Re-Storying Education one step at a time.
Such a good day yesterday. I am still feeling all the love from Campbell River SD. I was so lucky to be speaking along side the Honourable Jody Wilson Rabould. It was such a powerful and wonderful morning. Thankful for the district for having me in. Look for us doing some more book talks together.
And I am off again! This time heading up to Thompson River University to talk to the teacher Ed students, Inidgenous Ed, and Faculty. It’s going to be a fun time! Re-Storying Education one step at a time.
What an amazing honour it is to hear my book is a finalists in non fiction category of the Foreword Indies Book of the Year Awards, which celebrate outstanding literary works. This is so amazing!!
Announcements will happen in June!
Re-Storying Education one step at a time! What a journey.
I had the best time yesterday speaking with educators across Vancouver Island and beyond about my book. So many great conversations and lovely people. It was their first Indigenous Education Early years conference and it was amazing! Hoping to see everyone again next year at this event.
It was another beautiful day of Re-Storying education. Today I was at Westwrn University. It is such a beautiful space. So thankful for connections.
This was the most amazing morning. I loved talking with folks and connecting with educators about the work I do. I felt so loved and connected with all the educators today. Needless to say I am loving my trip to Toronto.
“In community, it’s always multiple perspectives… I tried really hard in my classrooms to create that community, so students get that feeling, e.g. by giving opportunities for students to learn collaboratively”: @carolynroberts.bsky.social

@carolynroberts.bsky.social draws crucial connections between colonial history and popular-media stories *about* Indigenous people to encourage us to rethink how we teach through re-storying in the keynote to @gbcollege.bsky.social’s 25th Annual Mental Health Conference.
This was such a fun afternoon, speaking to new educators and the Indigenous education department. Thanks so much for the invitation @scotemeek.bsky.social
Looking forward to coming out to Brock University at the end of the month to talk about my book and education. Come and join us if you can.
Started the week in -32 Edmonton speaking to 1100 Indigenous educators and ending the week on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, keynote for their teachers conference. Lucky me!

A little bit of blue sky as I head out to an all Indigenous teacher education conference IKWC in Edmonton. I love these conferences so much! Being a keynote is even better. Leaving the sun for snow.
There continues to be harm in classrooms for Indigenous students. Have a look at this blog post to find out the ways this happens and ways to do things differently. www.carolynroberts.net/single-post/...
