Ahead of tomorrow’s leaders’ retreat, EPSU + @etuce.bsky.social call on European Council President @eucopresident.consilium.europa.eu to invest in public services. Not austerity. Not deregulation. Europe’s future depends on it.

Distributing public funds to corporations without strings attached (no public money to tax avoiders, to overpaid CEOs, to share-buy backs...) would be at the expense of education, health and public services @etuce.bsky.social and @epsu.bsky.social say
We want a strengthening of public services

With @epsu.bsky.social , we call on EU leaders to recognise that investing in education, health, and care is essential for a fair and prosperous future.
The Stability & Growth Pact must be suspended. Teachers, health workers, and care workers deserve better.

Preparedness in education must not lead to the militarisation of education or the loss of democratic sovereignty.
Teachers and their unions must be part of the design of any preparedness strategy.
ETUCE sets out key principles for EU and national authorities.
