No matter what, this turnout is an extreme statistical outlier for Texas. You mention the senate R primary being competitive, but the fact that turnout is basically the same for Rs as a quiet 2022 primary is significant.

You’re talking about the primary election, correct? I agree that it’ll be the hubs that decide it, but I’m wondering if, depending on which way rural counties go, whether that impacts the momentum for the elected candidate going into November.

So do you take anything from the data for smaller, rural counties like Delta County?

Nah you’re good! I only knew that it was available there because I’m a Texan who’s been watching the numbers on the website since day 1. Fun fact, after day 1, republicans were up by about 1,000 votes. Each day, D number momentum has grown.

The website compares the votes day-by-day to the 2022 midterms.

In 2022 after 4 days of early voting:
(D primary): 135,336 (38%)
(R primary): 222,094 (62%)

In 2026 after 4 days of early voting:
(D primary): 277,706 (52%)
(R primary): 251,766 (48%)

I could be wrong, but I believe that many do live in other countries but don’t meet IOC rules to represent said countries. I believe they have to make a statement against the war in Ukraine, which would imperil their safety if they were to continue to reside in those countries.
