The group of Carlos Fdez Tornero's at @cib-csic.bsky.social will implement AI tools to identify new drugs against sleeping sickness, a neglected parasitic disease that mainly affects sub-Saharan Africa and has a high mortality rate if not treated in time.
The @csic.es has received 1 million dollars from Google.org to develop AI models to search for new drugs (@cib-csic.bsky.social) and advanced robotic therapies (CAR-CSIC).

Yesterday we attended the Google Cloud Summit Madrid to announce this collaboration. We are looking forward to the new horizons that will open with his opportunity!
We are excited to share that we have started a new research line to develop AI tools for targeted drug design. We will start from whole pathogen genomes, predict potential targets and their structure, and finish by screening drug libraries. All this funded by google.org!
