Presumably women who are infertile will face a third, somehow also awful, option.
if only there'd been some kind of long history we could extrapolate from. but unfortunately, the rookie jokes must continue
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy

I personally do not think some rich man should be able to buy an institution like this like a toy and then break it when he doesnβt want to play with it anymore. bsky.app/profile/benm...
misty morning in Epping Forest
A heron flying over a gap in the treetops, Epping Forest
V-2 rocket crater, Epping Forest
There's always a moment in late January when the volume, variety & intensity of birdsong seems to have chipped up, and this year it seems to be today. Wren, goldfinch, redwing, song thrush, robin, all the tits, blackcap, nuthatch & more (the heron was flying over, silently & the V-2 crater is full)
NYT Games was rightfully a success case study on the NPA newsroom product course I completed last year, but today is another day where I must wonder if they've fully considered a British version where we could use our beloved 'U's in spelling bee properly
part of this is like, conservatives projecting; part of this is conservatives unable to imagine politics without money; and part of this is dudes who are so out of touch with feminized labor that they think children's birthday parties exist as a spontaneous act of parthogenesis
News organizations can gain or lose trust by either acknowledging what people have seen with their own eyes β or calling it a jump ball. From 2 weeks ago: presswatchers.org/2026/01/why-...
Genuinely think this coverage is worthy of formal complaint β and if the BBC doesnβt take it seriously, it should be escalated to Ofcom.
The appearance of caving to the Trump White House, when the BBC is being sued, could be disastrous for public trust.
They did this with the last summary execution too - inviting government propagandists on for interviews and then concluding that because the government say one thing and independent analysts say another, we can never truly say what happened.
Itβs an insane thing to witness.
PSA for anyone who needs it.

The New World asked me to speak to some British trans women about what life has been like for them over the past few years - here's what they had to say, in their own words: www.thenewworld.co.uk/marie-le-con...
I find this sickening, tbh. The claim that simply being in the presence of a trans woman creates a βa hostile, humiliating and degrading environmentβ for cis women could not be more transphobic* if it tried.
*Literally: showing discrimination against, aversion to, or fear of, transgender people
This is so astoundingly misjudged it actually fixed the tension in my jaw for a moment
spending my day interviewing trans people for a piece (hopefully coming out next week!) and what a stupid, stupid, mean, absurd state of affairs
I understand the pressures on the BBC, but Radio 4's coverage of the Minneapolis shooting is an example of "bad balance".
It's all "the Trump regime says she was a terrorist, but Democrats say it was murder".
The BBC has the footage. It doesn't have to treat truth and falsehood as equally valid.
This is how to kill trust in journalism. Everyone can see the video footage, there is no need for 'both sides' to the story - certainly not in the opening paragraph (maybe it's OK to note the political disagreement right at the end).
We need more headlines like this - accurate and plain-spoken:
In the span of a hour, they stealth edited the article from trans woman to "biological male who identifies as a woman." The BBC isn't fit for purpose.
I'm starting a chandelier scheme. It's like a pyramid scheme but inverted - you all give me money, I never pay any of you back, I buy this chandelier. All good?
